They were mostly made in the 60's so they are basicly bulbs with 11 pins.

They've been revival since about 2008. I always intend to make one but can't really justify dropping 200 bucks on a clock.

Jokes aside though Wozniak got a Nixie watch custom made, the tubes only light up when you press a button and the actual clock circuit barely consumes any power. Kinda defeats the aesthetics if your clock is off all the time though.
