There are more GTX 560 Ti, 9600 GT and GTX 970M FUCKING LAPTOPS in use than the AMD RX 480.

There are more GTX 1060 and GTX1070 than GTX 980 and GTX980TI.

Because they're incapable of making a competitor to those cards on their garbage architecture.

Look at their last attempt. Fury X, so fucking hot it needed mandatory water cooling and still ran hotter than most competitor cards on air.

They make $200 shitbox Polaris GPUs that already run like nuclear power plants, they scale that up and you're going to need a 1600W PSU and mandatory liquid nitrogen cooling this time around.
>>

>Vega should launch around the same time as the 1080Ti ( early next year) and bring if not higher performance, then at least close to it with a higher theoretical maximum peak compute capability.

Vega 10 will perform 2-2.5x higher than Polaris 10, depending on the 4096 shader and 12 TF numbers (= 1.45 GHz) being true and whether AMD skimps on fixed function units like they did with Fiji.

The things AMD needs to not have Vega be Fiji 2.0:
> divide the 4096 shaders/64 CUs across 8 SEs with a geometry and raster setup unit each, instead of using 4 SEs with 16 CUs each
> Use 3 RBEs/12 ROPs per CU
> Get closer to theoretical bandwidth limits on HBM2 than they did with HBM1

That's every single person who's ever installed Steam.

Steam EULA says they collect data of your hardware spec and can publish anonymized aggregated statistics off of it.

>>

>>57621365

his argument wouldn't even make sense if it was only a subset of steam users, 10% of ~150 million is more than enough to get accurate stats to within a very small margin of error.
>>
>>57621365
not him but certain users get a popup where they have to select internet speed and other things steam cant measure, and then they make list of your hardware settings that you can review and choose if you want to submit or not. hardware info sent to steam is unrelated, and survey is 100% voluntary and participation is very small which is why you don't even know how it works

you have to pay an employee to get in a vehicle and go to the place. You need to pay for the associated costs of that employee. You need to pay for the associated costs of that vehicle.

Of course it's not worth $50 but that's how much it costs (minus the built in profit), that's the cost of being dumb. I have absolutely no problems with that.

You can't really compare DX12 here, since the implementation in BF1 is buggy on AMD and Nvidia cards, see the thousands of articles about the stutter issues.

Under DX11 the 1060 is a good chunk better, and still faster than 480 in DX12

he's right though. hardwareunboxed, jokerproductions, guru3d, techspot, gamersnexus, hardocp and a bunch of other, lesser known sites have all done benchmarks using dx12 mode and they all came back with the same conclusion which is that dx12 mode is broken in bf1.
>>
>>57634946
hes right that dx12 is broken, hes wrong that nvidia is better, BF1 is one of the games where AMD is better regardless of the API

false. nvidia has the edge in dx11 but drops off in dx12. going by the benches with the 1060 vs 480 (1080p):

480:94

msi 1060: 95
msi 480: 87

480: 92

Why do people use video game bechmarks as a reliable way of judging and comparing graphic cards WHEN THEY NEVER FUCKING REDO THE BENCHMARKS WITH NEW DRIVER RELEASES.
>>
>>57635837
Which is why I searched Youtube for a newer than 1 month video. See.

>>57633359

Nvidiolts are lookimng at *OLD* benchmarks.
>>
>>57635837
tbf benchmarks are pointless full stop. most benchmarkers use reference cards which aren't representative of like 99% of all consumers since everyone buys aftermarket gpu's.

take bf1 for example, the 390 in all benchmarks wins by like ~6/7 fps over a 970 yet joker productions did a test of the 2 most popular aib 390 and 970 and the 970 won by ~6/7 fps this time. gamers nexus is the same with the 1060 and 480. there is usually only a 2/3 fps difference in the benchmarks between a 1060 and 480 in bf1 yet gamersnexus found an 8 fps difference when comparing 2 similar priced 1060 and 480 from msi, both with factory oc.

it's just a plain fact that nvidia offers more for your money and has superior aftermarket performance compared to a competing amd card at the same price point (~£10). at stock, the amd cards generally always wins after 18 or so months due to driver improvements but nvidia still dominates the aftermarket.

>>
>>57637528
Nope. I bought my msi 390 for 329.99 about 14 months ago at a time when 970's were retailing for between 280 and 320. I thought the 970 was shit at the time though so I bought the 390 also because I wanted to move to 1440p soon after, also at the time I was pro amd because I had a sapphire 1950 before that in my old prebuilt. Turns out it's only good for 1080p 60 fps in most cases, and I wasted money because one of my best friends evga gtx 970 ftw edition outperformed me in pretty much every game, he had a 1520 mhz oc but my 390 could only get to 1080mhz core and 1450 memory. I have a 1070 now though so it's all cool.
>>
>>57637907
In DX11 it is proven time and time again that Nvidia rules the roost. Things are changing a bit with new DX12 titles but I think unless Vega pulls a fast one Nvidia have this covered as well going by recent DX12 scores. I was really surprised to see the GTX 1060 equaling the RX 480 in Doom Vulcan performance in the above link. It just goes to show how good Nvidia's implementation of DX12 preemption actually is.
