It's still running, no fault yet
>>

she's meming you, it's a safe command

you'll have to run it again then

Do I have to run this command everytime I boot?
>>
>>57609506
try it and see if it works
if so, then you can add
Option "metamodes" "nvidia-auto-select +0+0 { ForceFullCompositionPipeline = On }"

under the Screen section of your xorg.conf
>>
>>57609523
I hope you're not bullshitting. I'll try this out. If it works a million thank yous.
>>
>>57609536
it works, i had to do it on my laptop
normally i would just tell people to google it but it took me a while to find a working solution so i figured i'd help
>>
>>57609546
Awesome, Yeah there's not much solutions out there. Can you go a little in depth as to why this works over other methods such as this https://iwf1.com/finally-nvidia-tearing-issue-fix-found/
>>
>>57609570
because it's a problem exclusive to keplar and newer gpus, and that's the only solution i've found that works
>>
>>57609307
When are they going to make a GPU that's on par/better than my 980ti? I want to sell it and go AMD, but I don't want a downgrade in performance.
>>
>>57609594
good enough. Thank you good sir.
>>
>>57609594
have you thought about putting this answer in the linux forums. People would be very appreciative.

also do i need to log out and back in for effects to take?

It came with the computer. I hate nvidia. smokin deal though. Bought it from a friend for 450. 130GB ssd and 1 tb hdd and 8gb ram. i7 processor.

Of course! Laptops aren't computers. How silly of him.
>>
>>57609830
>vsync
introduces input lag, if your fps drops below 60 it has to cut it in half to keep working.

>play borderless fullscreen
see above

>get a 144hz monitor
does not eliminate tearing. Can in fact make tearing worse since it's harder to hit 144fps than 60fps.

>get over it
you can't just "get over" being ocd about screen tearing.

As it stands right now, video games are literally, LITERALLY unplayable until better sync solutions become more widely available.
>>
>>57609320
I find that only enabling SNA gets rid of tearing in games and videos for me.
>>
>>57609386
put it in your nvidia conf or set as xrandr nvidia-settings --assign CurrentMetaMode="nvidia-auto-select +0+0 { ForceCompositionPipeline = On }" in your ~/.xinit.rc
>>
>>57609302
>>57609320
>>57609357
You fucked up m8,
Mint is only usable with default driver it comes with.

To properly install nvidia driver you have to do it manually, search google how to do manual install, be warned its not easy, also if you were to upgrade the driver you will have to repeat the whole process again.
If done correctly you will have nvidia-settings full of features and options

Regarding system crash its like a 15 year old bug with a trackpad and nvidia x implementation. Use mouse and disable trackpad.

As of 375.10, you no longer need the metamode setup as it was moved to an xorg option.

or developers stop releasing garbage and instead optimize their games so they're actually playable rather than slow trash incapable of being enjoyable without retarded ammount of money sunk on hardware that will be obsolete within a two year time frame
