But I didn't have to install Wi-Fi drivers. I just stuck my usb wifi stick into the pc and it worked.

Broadcom drivers on Linux have always been fucky.
Even on Ubuntu.
I went through so much shit trying to install it on Fedora, then on Ubuntu I suffered my Wi-Fi dropping out all the time.
Then I installed solus and liked it, then I tried installing broadcom drivers for my laptop and it installed. Then I disabled the fuck out of it and turned my laptop into an in bed multimedia pc with no networking because FUCK BROADCOM.
I don't want stupid shit like Wi-Fi bugs bothering me (which it would) so now that I've settled I'm keeping it disabled because I don't ever expect any broadcom wireless device to work properly on Linux.
On a side note, Ubuntu mate is pretty good.
