How many $300 HDMI cables do you sell every month?
>>
>>57603370
Does your geekfraud know what they're doing or do they rip people off?
>>
>>57603412
I'm not sure about numbers, but it's where we get all our money since we can mark it up so high.

>>57603432
They know what they're doing but they offer service on brain dead easy shit like putting a screen protector on your phone for like 7 bucks.
>>
>>57603494
And I think it's overpriced as fuck but I get why we do it
>>
crazy customer stories?
>>
Should I work there possibly with you?
>>
are your co workers more competent than they seem to be? (which is not at all)
>>
I worked at Best Buy for 3 years so I'll help out too.
>>57603578
No. Mostly, they aren't competent on the tech they sell at all. Sales associates are trained specifically to make things sound great without actually understanding it.

5% over cost on a lot of stuff. The real deals are the accommodations though which are basically certain items with crazy discounts, I saw a $2000 TV for like $400 If you work in home theatre

>>57603686
The bar to entry is pretty low imo, I got in with no prior job experience listed and I make $10.50 an hour. This guy who started the same time as me makes 50 cents more because he's an eagle scout and has done a lot of community service. The big thing is just nailing the interview
>>
>>57603677
One that always sticks with me is some dude that just walked around the store putting expensive shit in his cart. Consoles. Laptops. Everything that still had spiderwraps on it.. then he proceeds to just walk out the store with it all while flashing a gun at our yellow shirt.

He got arrested about 30 yards out the front door.

Another time, this lady I was helping was asking me for the most expensive of every item. Most expensive Mac, most expensive camera, most expensive printer. I already knew shit was weird but we can't say no without a motive. She tries to pay with a credit card and i tell her we need her ID to run it.. she flashes me her ID from her bag but doesn't take it out. I ask her to take it out and it's some paper shit and I proceed to call her out and she flips shit and runs our the store.

Yea refurbished means it was turned in for inspire credit and restored by geek squad, so they'll only be at certain locations. You may be able to get them ordered to the store you want or your house. Not 100% sure on that though.

>You fucking retard. The "black friday" stampedes dont happen anymore.
I worked at best buy in the computer department a decade ago. We had some shitty ass laptop for $200 that everyone wanted. We put them all up front so the stampede would be easy and manageable. They literally ran past the laptops to get to our PC section in the back, as we are yelling at them that they are all set out in the front. People turned around and started running to the front. We had a couple collisions of people running in opposite directions leading to nosebleeds.
Over 1/3 of the laptops were returned for being so shitty.

old friends in management from when i worked there ages ago.

last time it was rumored to be a ploy to drive up end-of-year sales, which would be supremely retarded since then you're just having the the staff eat up the stock of all the high-margin items, and making very little in return.

but it looks good on a "total revenue" report.

I have a question:

I went in the other day to pick a in-store pickup, and it looked like they already started a bunch of the black friday stuff early (Mainly on the 1080p TVs). I looked later and some of the deals I saw locally were not advertised in the Ad, any hidden deals or things going into Black Friday?

the minmum wage for tipped employees is around $2.10, and some restaurants report tips automatically as "expected" (usually around 10% of sales to be safe about it), so if said server was repeatedly stiffed they'd be paying taxes on income they didn't actually earn.

in theory, they could actually "lose" money (owe more than $2.10 in taxes each hour) by being there.
>>
>>57609537
All of our black friday stuff is already online, and to my knowledge there's no hidden stuff.

>>
>>57608490
Just typical management. Dont know anything about the departments and make changes for the sake of it. Stand around and talk for hours about issues but never solve anything im sure you know the type.
>>
Ancient fag reporting here.

I worked at Best Buy, twice. First time in the 90's, again from 2004 till 2008.

By the 2nd time I worked there, they had slashed the employee discounts on the service plans ( I still have a PC that becomes " unrepairable " every few years.. new PC for 200 bucks ). The accessories were still 5% over cost. I heard they got rid of it, but that's cool that it's back now.

The worst thing about working there was the constant brainwashing by management. Now, I was the tech lead the 2nd go round for Geek Squad, and even then, I use to tell most of the managers to leave me the fuck alone with their " durrr we sell the best electronics " shit. It was non stop, every day. " yay! Go team Best Buy! ". I still know a few people that work there, and they are SO far into this shit, that you can't even talk to them. The company ( since I was there ), has taken it on the nose, HUGE. I don't know how that french fuckstain CEO has managed to keep that shit hole afloat. Every time I drive past any Best Buy, there is almost never anyone there. The times I DO go in there, it feels empty from times past when I worked there. The media department ( which drove a lot of the big stores ), is literally gone now. No one wants to buy Blu-Ray movies or shit like that anymore. CD'S? hahahahaha. Somehow their stock prices have came back up, but I guess that is just because they have cut massive amounts of employees ( I did have some friends that managed to get promoted, all the way to corporate office, only to get cut when the ship started it's trip down ).
>>
>>57603370
Why do you faggots talk as if you are Bill Gates when confronted with a simple question like "why are all your video cards 4 years old and still $200?"

Yeesh, get neither. Ferrets are WAY too much effort and upkeep. They're very high maintenance and incredibly hyperactive. They're just constantly ON, all the time.
Guinea pigs are much, much easier to take care of but they basically just don't give a shit about you. As long as they're fed, they'll go out of their way to avoid you. And when you finally do pick them up, they'll only want to go back into their cage.
Rodents in general just don't make great pets, come to think of it.

My wife had rats when I met her. She got her first one when her brothers snake started to shed after he bought the rat to feed her back when she was a kid. Now we have no less then 4 rats at any given time. I was kinda creeped out at first but really to they are great. We let all 4 run free just about 24/7 around the house. They go back to the cage when they gotta poop or pee.

I'll be watching a movie and I'll just feel a rat on my foot wanting to get up in my lap for a nap. They are so cool and as long as you introduce them while they are young to the piggies they get along great with them. Piggies are not the best with thier poop though so they can only run free in the animal room

They should if there's one in your state. You might have to press a bit but they should. So should staples, frys, officemax and other electronics stores. There's a microcenter 50 miles from me, a best buy half a mile away and a frys 8 miles away, and they all price check eachother if you ask.

Another FUN story:
>Customer comes in slaps laptop down
>Starts bitching that his over a year old laptop that is a generic Pentium with no ssd IS SLOW and has NEVER worked right since he bought it
>They DO have bestbuy extended warranty. If you are nice and have everything and have a clear cut issue (like doesn't turn on) sometimes you can get store credit.
> They are bitching that the laptop now doesn't turn on. Notice charger doesn't have an activity light on
>I grab a charger and SURPRISE it turns right the fuck on. No issues.
>The customers say its been here before 2 times!! Check it out and only for infections and os issues.
>Let them know if I send it out and they find nothing wrong they will charge you and it will take 2 weeks.
>I can also order you a charger but that would take 2 weeks.
>shit hits the fan x2
>Since they have been fucking rude I secretly tell my manager "don't give em shit"
>They start SCREAMING saying they could get better service from Walmart ( i tried to not laugh so hard)

My weapon of choice is the god damn original receipt. Most bestbuy employees just check the purchase date and the item in question to make sure it matches with what they are holding. However I print out the receipt for clarifying. and the fact that they can hold it adds more depth versus me looking at a monitor.

Every electronic device I ever had to warranty, I simply got an RMA from the manufacturer and shipped it to them for repair/exchange.
>>

>>
>>57620795
our markup is insane on that stuff but it's the only way we make our money. blame apple for giving us almost nothing for selling their shitty overpriced laptops
>>
>>57620620
Service fee's are for phones only.

If you buy something from bestbuy and it gets fucked and you bought no extended warrant you MIGHT be able to return it within the manufacturers warranty.

The benefit is:
1. You don't have to wait a month+
2. You don't have to pay shipping out of your own pocket like some scumbag manufacturers
3. Some manufacturers will just give you a refurbished device
4. You get store credit, but you can get whatever you want (returning a tv and you want a laptop? no problem). If it's more expensive you can pay the difference

PROTIPS:
Be NICE and don't scream.
The device must be IMMACULATE as possible. This may be hard but dents, chips, and scratches may be the difference between getting a new one, sending it out to service, or getting NOTHING
KEEP your receipt. If you don't have it make sure you had the card you used. If you paid cash you are probably fucked.
Bring EVERYTHING that came with the device.
Having the original box is always helpful. at least save your barcode!!
>>
>>57620795

"even though you've graduated high school and California doesn't consider you a minor in labor-related affairs, nationally best buy can only hire 18+ because of some machinery that can only be operated by 18+"
So I don't really know what's the deal with that.

Tell Stevie in Erie PA to stop hyping his job up so much. He brags about being sent to cranberry for a two day training seminar on being a salesmen and always talks about making more sales than his coworkers. Sick of it dude. Stop throwing around your buzzwords like "solutions". It's a sale. You didn't create a solution you made a sale. You ripped people off by marking your shit up like crazy and convincing them to buy shit they don't need. You charge extra for the same benefits amazon gives you for free and you are trained to sell and question every aspect of the customers use. I bought a netbook for notes. No i don't need protection no i don't need anti virus no i don't need office professional no i don't need a printer no i don't need a wireless keyboard and mouse that's why I bought a tiny netbook.
