I was a Sony Ericsson guy. Nokia phones generally beat Sony Ericssons in build quality, and speaker loudness. Also, Symbian (on some phones). You could fucking drop your Nokia phone over and over again, and it would keep on trucking. Sony phones needed some "babying" compared to Nokias, but Sony had found a way to be relevant in everything else.

Sony phones had the better cameras, sony phones had the better UI, they had the better design, they had everything the Nokia phones would have next year, or two years, now. While Nokia were throwing shit at the wall with their unique designs, Sony had found a successful formula.

Then I got this, the most expensive phone I ever bought. It was great until the battery shorted and died from plugging in a micro USB cable the wrong way. The socket on the phone was so shitty it had degraded and allowed this to happen. It turned it into a very expensive paperweight. I never bothered to fix it because it was a year old and I was tired of Sony's bullshit.

You might not believe me but I still use the one on the right regularly, it's been my main phone for 9 years now.

Most of the buttons fell off one by one last year though, I have to press them with my nails. The battery lasts around 4-5 days. I tried switching to smartphones but I doubt I'll ever find them as comfortable.

I waited until Apple invented the smartphone before I got my first phone.

My first smartphone and boy it was smart. That's around the time when people starting buying the first iPhone. It came with Windows Mobile 6.1 but had an unofficial download for version 6.5 that came later.

Music player? Check.
E-mails and calendar? Check.
Gameboy (gba or gbc or both, don't remember) emulator? Check. (That was its best feature, it ran absolutely smoothly and had just the right key layout to use physical keys.)
IRC chat? Check.
Video player to watch... back then it was How I Met Your Mother? Check.

I think I used Opera for browsing, but rarely since it was so slow and shitty.

But overall, it was a wonderful first smartphone and lasted me for years. I don't miss it though, by today's standards its incredibly shitty.

It was a Nokia 1680c, such a gimped waste of silicon. I would've been more of a SE guy back in the day but they were too shit or too expensive.

Phones I had over the years were:
- Nokia 1680c (gimped 2630)
- LG KP500 Cookie (cheapest touch phone at the time, gimped Renoir)
- LG GD510 Pop (smaller and faster than the cookie, good design, same phone overall, somewhat worse software limitations though, shit build quality as usual from LG)
- SE K850i (awesome camera for it's time, terribly laggy UI, even though Java apps abd games ran fine)
- SE Xperia Mini Pro (little badass, served me from 2012 to this year)

I had a phone when I was 11 in middle school, and I'm 26 now.

I mean, it was like an electronic wireless leash for my parents to find me with... that's why they paid for it.
I didn't really have friends so it was just 'a fancy alarm clock that could also call my mom'.

31 yo now
Started with a bunch of cheap prepaid phones
moved on to Razr
Then Palm Pilot
Then some Windows Mobile device I can't remember
Dealt with that awfulness until I got the HTC Dream (which was amazing)
Followed by the HTC Desire Z (which was also amazing)
Been using mostly Samsung flagship devices since then.... they've been mostly meh...
