OP3(T) vs Nexus 6p. I can't decide what to get. 6p is stock (coming from Nexus 6, which I love), but the OP3(T) runs close near stock and has this year's specs. Thoughts?

Also, my phone is broke. Will the OP3(T) ship to me this week?

Why isn't Nexus 5X getting cheaper?

It's getting more expensive, why is this happening to me and who can I blame?
>>
>>57590210
OP3T. The 6P isn't shit though but with the OP3T you'll get modern specs at the same price or even cheaper, depending on where you live.

The OP3T won't be in stock in a week though, and shipping may take up to 3 weeks.

Why would I need more?
>>
>>57590419
From what I've read the 2gb sometimes gets slowed down when multitasking. For instance, the only time this would worry me is when I'm driving and streaming music and using my GPS, which I do a lot. It may be frustrating to have stutters at those times. That's what worries me at least. If it wasn't for the 2gb I would buy a 5x right now.

I need a hundred~ dollar android. I'm in the US and with AT&T. I was looking at the second gen moto E since it recently got marshmallow and has a smaller display.

Any recommendations to top this? I really only use my phone for web browsing, calls, SMS and music, though I prefer a little room for customization (basic icon packs, shit like that). I hate large display phones and don't use any of their features for the most part.

There are still Nexus 5 users who are purchasing it to retain its markup. Otherwise, the price has dropped but only marginally.

>Settled with Sultan's work because it overextended the life of my phone
>CM14 support, development and ROM continuity incoming
>June 2017 will mark three years and no reason to upgrade from this phone

Pros:
>Great build; dropped it a few times without a case and there's no physical damage
>64GB standard storage, 3GB standard RAM - more than enough
>Probably has one of the best ROM development teams in the smartphone world

Cons:
>3000 mAh battery, I can feel the affects but only marginally thanks to my ROM
>No mSD
>No removable battery
>Camera is decent, terrible in low light (Sultan's CM13 fixes this but only marginally)

It was $10 last year around this time. You can probably aim higher for that much these days.

I plan on finally replacing my old Galaxy 3S and I am planning to invest 300-400€ for a new phone.

Currently im looking at the One Plus 3 & One Plus 3T but I keep on reading that the devs are a little shit and keep on telling little lies that the people at XDA apparently do not like.

What other phones in that price range are recommendable? Or should I just fuck the haters and get the OP3 or OP3T?
>>
>>57591126
Thanks. How long does the Mi5s usually take to ship to France?

I'm currently on a nexus 4, on its last legs.

I can get a new oneplus3T or a refurbished iPhone 6S for virtually the same price. I want something I can use comfortably for a couple of years, confident that it will get updated and meet my needs.

Which should I get? Or is there anything else I should look at?
>>
>>57591513
Yeah OP3T is your safest bet.

Depends on the shop. you should order from TopOne on aliexpress or Honorbuy/Flosmall as they have EU shipping protection. if you don't pay for DHL or EMS it can take weeks.

I still it's a better idea to go with topone or HKG if you wanna avoid customs.

You have to pick "Sellers shipping method" for HKG and DHL for topone.

I like the fact that an android is basically a pocket computer but the sensible me thinks an iPhone will be usable a lot longer or have resale value in a year. I'll be stuck with ROMs and not being able to use android pay on the oneplus.

Oh. in that case the cheapest you can find DHL/EMS/expedited shipping. otherwise free shipping takes a really long time. banggood is alright.

>>
>>57591962
lel 20 is much more likely. shipping from China is a pain. see /csg/, this shit can take ages. that's why DHL from topone or HKG is better, it arrives fast and you avoid customs.
>>
>>57591975

Android guarantee nothing except for nexus/pixel, and then there's only 2 years from the date of release.
>>
>>57591993
Okay, so DHL direct to France from HKG.
https://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Original-Xiaomi-Mi5s-Mi-5S-3GB-RAM-64GB-ROM-Mobile-Phone-Snapdragon-821-5-15-1920x1080/311331_32740701280.html

So?

>>
>>57592045
with HKG you must use "Seller's Shipping Method" to avoid taxes, not DHL sorry, DHL is for topone so be careful. bundle saves you time waiting for accessories later.
>>
>>57592082
And how are you reaching that conclusion? Like I said, the updates gimp the device.

>>
>>57592091
You can refuse updates as they are offered if any performance issues are not worth the new functionality and support. Better that than not even being offered the support.
>>
>>57592336
If the phone works perfectly to begin with, why would an extra 2-3 years of updates matter? And why would that add resale value?
>>
>>57592328
Sure thing. don't forget to unlock the bootloader and flash xiaomi.eu rom on it when you get it(if you don't like the chinese rom).
>>
>>57592375
Shit I don't know how to do either of those things. Is there a guide? Where can I get the ROM?
>>
What is the best smartphone and why is it the LG G3
>>
>>57592406
You can stay on chinese rom if you want, iirc mi5s doesn't have global rom with more languages. xiaomi.eu makes a community rom that is much better without all the bloat.

see guide here:
https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/all-in-one-guide-compilation-on-how-to-flash-xiaomi-eu-roms-on-your-mi5s.36132/#post-333648

That's something you need to do with most Xiaomi phones.
>>
>>57592356
Extended manufacturer support lengthens the usable lifetime of the device and helps it retain its perceived/real value to potential buyers. That doesn't seem too complicated.
>>
>>57592336
Clearly don't own an iPhone cause that dumb shit will pop up every two seconds saying update and you press cancel only to have it tell you to update again
>>

The 5s I use is running it with zero problems or performance issues. It's not even my main phone, it's the one I use for work, but I actually put off downloading 10.0 for about 2 weeks with no nags after the first notice.

1gb of ram is enough for many use cases (aka you are not a retarded phone gamer) and 2gb is perfect

Review time, I just bought a Moto G4 Play for 100 freedom dollars and it's much better than the G4 and G4 Plus (yes I own both, G4 was a gift, the other I got off eBay but found it too big to use comfortably with one hand).

It has a shittier snapdragon and a quadcore but doesn't overheat or stutter on games or while watching 1080p anime mkv on mx player pro, performance on games doesn't differ between it and the 3GB ram G4+ either (tested dead space, san andreas, asphalt 8, modern combat 4 and dead trigger at max settings with no lag).

The phone is a bit smaller (5'' 720p IPS LCD 294 ppi) but it doesn't look any different from the G4, just size and resolution.

The camera quality is the same as the G4 even though it's 8 megapixels, however it's still only okay, I suggest a sony phone if you want the best selfies and stuff.

Battery isn't that much smaller, 2800 mAh vs 3000 mAh, supports quick/turbo charge, a nice feature since my G4+ came with the charger, goes from 0 to 100 in an hour and half, SoT averages a good 6 hours, more than the G4+ (most likely because of the smaller resolution).

2 GB ram, just enough for daily use and fair for its price, internal storage is 16 GB that goes up to 256 GB with SD card (sim+SD or two sims).

Supports just about every band since it's sold everywhere, every model is dual sim if you care about that.

Android is stock marshmallow soon to be nougat, only foreign app is a single moto app (no idea what it does), my only complaint (not really a complaint but it may be troublesome for other people) is that it apparently doesn't have a stock gallery/music/video player/launcher besides google apps, like I said not a problem since I use poweramp, MX, nova and leafpic.

Internet reviews and forums also mention it's the best of the G4 family because it doesn't overheat or has screen burn-in issues due to being manufactured later.

8/10 I'd definitely recommend if you want something small, good and cheap but don't want or can't import.

I have a iPhone 5S. Had no interest in upgrading phones (nothing wrong with mine) until I got into the market for a portable media player for all my hundreds of gigs of placebo-satisfying lossless music, and then heard about the amazing DAC (and 2TB micro SD capacity) in the V20. Currently trying to decide between getting a Fiio X1 to supplement my phone or going for the V20 upgrade.
I've only ever had iPhones (didn't get a phone until I was 16) and quite like the look and feel but I'm open and somewhat curious to try something new, I used Linux as a kid anyway. The mics, cameras, and much larger screen seems like a nice bonus too, it seems like a shiny new toy that will keep me entertained for a good while.
I get that it's a top-of-the-line phone and probably worth the money for the power it contains (so it really just comes down to what I determine makes sense financially) but are there any caveats to be aware of? Are there any less costly phones with notably great sound hardware? That's mostly what I'm after

I installed Cyanogenmod 13 on my Samsung S5 mini and something weird is going on with my battery.

I charged it on Thursday to 100%, yesterday afternoon it was at 22% after average use, then I charged it again in the evening and it fully drained overnight in less than 7 hours.

I'm running Greenify and disabled all apps including non-essential system apps. What might becausing this behavior: lasting two days, then not even lasting a night?

Sup /g/uys. I'm a US student who can only work during the summer. As such, I need a phone that supports a cheap carrier so I can easily pay for it with my summer work (I'm using Boost now since 35/mo for 2GB data is pretty cheap and I get loyalty discounts if I but phones from their stores). Unfortunately, my old phone broke recently, so I need to buy a new one.

I had 300 dollary-doos that I have set aside for phone bills until next summer, so this is basically my budget for a phone and service. I can work over the winter break for some extra cash for Spring service if needed, but this is what I have now. These are my options, as I see them:

1) I could but a cheap-ass stopgap of a phone and buy a decent one over the summer. I could use my extra dough on service and a better phone down the line

2) Buy a ~$200 American phone as my new long term phone. My last phone fell in the ~$100 range, so pretty much anything is an upgrade. On the other hand, I don't really know where the bang-for-buck range is on American phones. If another $50 or $100 will get me a significantly better phone, then it might be worth waiting for the better thing. This would give me a phone and maybe two or three months of service, which is plenty of time to get the other three or four sorted.

3) I could try to get my hands on a chinkphone of some sort. It looks like some of their best bang-for-buck phones fall in the 200 range, but I don't know if any of them fall under any cheap providers in the US.

My main desires in my phone are a cheap provider, some decent internal storage (I've been living the 8GB life for too long), SD support, and some decent support for custom roms/dev/jailbreaking and whatnot. I don't really care about camera or battery. Nice specs would be nice, but having a better CPU and more RAM is pretty low priority. Passable is fine by me.

So what seems like the best option? Any of you in a similar situation? Can I get some recs?

I'm not going to forcefeed some chink stuff to my friend who's distrustful about online purchases from foreign countries and very traditional about purchases in general.
When his phone breaks down he will want to take it to the shop he bought it from, not send it back to China and wait 7 months for it to get repaired. Less hassle for me as well considering I'm going to be the tech-support.

So is there an updated chart?

My Nexus 5 has started acting stupid, immediately after support was dropped (this is pure coincidence, I am positive)

A good amount of incoming calls to my Nexus 5 (on the piece of shit network that is T-mobile) go straight to voicemail. The phone doesn't ring and even voicemails don't go through a lot of the time. Fucking around, I noticed that I don't get any dropped calls when I switch to 3g bands only but that's not a solution. I searched on the internet but while there are people with the same problem, there isn't any single solution

I reflashed stock and have not had any luck with solving the issue.

I have no clue what to do now. I assume that the radios get reset when you reflash stock so there doesn't really seem to be any more troubleshooting I can do on my end.

I have never had a sim card break so not sure if that's possible. Should I try reseating the SIM? Really running out of options
>>

>>
nexus 5x vs moto g plus vs moto x pure
>>
>>57608388
You can try flashing different radios, there might be a database of them for your device. You could try a modded android like CM or something to see if it works there. Try someone else's sim in your phone, or your sim in a different phone, to narrow down the issue to the phone only.

Does T-mobile use VoLTE? Might be some issue there if you can get 3G calls.

For some reason the Google search bar is now permanently at the top of my device and cannot be removed. Neither my phone, nor Nova Launcher even recognize it as a widget. So I can't long press like I always have.

Heard it was something to do with Google Now, and the app being disabled makes it go away. So I went to All Apps in settings application to try and disable it or Search or both. The phone no longer has those in application manager, period.

Checked Nova Launcher, persistent search bar is unchecked.

How do I make this annoying shit go away? Also, my homescreen has been super laggy since.

It is an LG G3 with Marshmallow and Nova Launcher. Pic related.

Thanks. Did give that a try. Reflashed current and flashed an old radio but have the same problem (although a complete call drop seems less frequent now than it was with before)

>Try someone else's sim in your phone, or your sim in a different phone, to narrow down the issue to the phone only.
Another good idea that I didn't get to try. The particular SIM card is very old at this point but I still assume they have a low failure rate(it was cut down into a mini sim from a regular size so it's been through several devices)
It was working fine forever now.
>VoLTE
Not sure if it was rolled out in my area recently by chance. I had no calls dropped on 3G with all my tests.

will give it a try if all else fails. Haven't used a ROM since the S2

Yeah I'd say it's worth upgrading if you get it for ~120 dollars or less (black friday discount here put it at a ridiculous 2599 MXN, for that price usually you can only get horrible BLU, Alcatel and no name phones with 512 MB ram tops), it has better specs, SD slot, supports 4G LTE, perfect size, doesn't look "cheap" despite being a budget smartphone, good battery duration and the stock rom is among the best, just behind nexus/pixel in how pure the android is.

But if you want to buy it and they want to jew out of more than 130 dollars consider importing a redmeme note 3 pro instead.

Out of those two? Definitely the Xperia, better camera, software and design, but less ram, 1080p screen and physically smaller, a fair trade off since QHD on a phone wastes battery like nothing else and every single LG phone will bootloop whether you want it or not, hell, we should even consider warning people in the OP about meizu, apple and LG, never even consider buying LG, even if they offer you a V20 for 10 dollars.

I like the V20 for the DAC and the large screen though.. decisions decisions..

Hello,
I need to buy a charger for my smartphone, i need a 5 V - 1 A charger,..someone can please recommend a good charger??,...brands like "Anker" or "Aukey" are ok?
>>
Out of the following phones (some names may be in French), which should I pick? These prices are the only ones I can get, I have to buy the phone tomorrow. Carrier is Orange France.

LG stylus 2 €299
Lumia 950 €299
G4 titane €349
Honor 7 dual sim €299
Zenfone 2 ze551ml €299

I probably shouldn't get the Lumia, because I basically need Android, but feel free to talk me into it.
>>
>redmi 4 prime comes with miui ultra botnet preinstalled
How long does it usually take for phones like that to get cm?
>>
Need a new smartphone (USA, AT&T) to replace my old GS4.

I'd prefer something below $600, and FWIW I have a ~$100 Best Buy gift card so something through them would be better.

What should I get? Any good Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals?
>>
Why does amazon not sell smartphones?
>>
>>57617306
I just bought a phone off of Amazon last weekend, what are you talking about?
>>
>>57616963
Prob LG G4

>>57616966
depends on how many russians & indians are buying it

>>57617293
I think pixels are going to be like $300 off
on contract obviously

>>57617306
they do
>>
>>57616717
Somebody did tests and opened up a bunch of chargers, and found that genuine Apple and Samsung were the very best and safest chargers being made, but the overwhelming problem is that they are also the most counterfeited, and Amazon/eBay are full of fakes. I'm pretty good at telling fakes as long as I can physically inspect them, so when I find real Apple and Samsung, I keep them.

Belkin, Amazon Basics, Anker, Aukey, Powergen, etc. should be fine. So should chargers made by other phone manufacturers like LG and Motorola. But there's always going to be someone counterfeiting whatever they think they can get away with at a higher price due to popularity so there's no guarantee about any of them really.
>>
Hey, I got a problem with my xperia X perf. My phone won't charge on the wall charger. I did the power+volume up thing to reset it but didnt do shit. What can I do? Back up and update os/reformat it?
>>
>>57615397
AIMP?
>>
>>57617393
what does the "titane" mean? Are there multiple G4 models?
>>
Is the op3t worth the extra $40 as opposed to the op3?
>>
Any phone to replace a Samsung Galaxy S4? Budget around $400-500.
>>
>>57617451
It just means titanium. There's no titanium model, so I assume anon just means the G4 in the titanium backing (it's really plastic though, they have leather as well).

>>57617469
the op3 is out of stock in most places and you can only buy the op3t officially, so unless you can find the op3 in some reseller, you gotta go 3t.

>>57617477
op3t
>>
>>57617477
Used s7
>>
>>57616963
Is the S6 active still worth it? the S7 active is too expensive
>>
>>57617546
sure, it's a durable phone with good batterylife. You'll get nougat at least, no idea about android o tho.

s6 active is also dirt cheap in germany, costs about 370 euros.
>>
>>57617523
Is the Honor 7 any good? It looks nice, and it has a better battery. It also costs €50 less, so it would be nice if it was around the same or only slightly weaker.
>>
>>57617565
Yeah it's a solid device. Very comparable to the G4.
>>
>>57617523
Assuming they're both available. Is it that much more of an upgrade?
>>
How much of a difference is 1gb vs 2gb of ram in terms of performance? I'm not interested in gaming.
>>
>>57617656
Great, then that's what I'll get. Thanks a bunch.
>>
>>57617713
Android?
>>
>>57617434
Seems to kind of skirt the issue by being mainly folder based instead of having an actual library. Also seems to only read the artist tags for files in the playlists you make.

It does have a really nice EQ though.

Am I being too picky here? It's not like album artist is some esoteric tag, it's part of the basic ID3v2 suite.
>>
>>57617676
Is snapdragon 821 vs 820 & a 400mah bump in battery & better low light performance worth it to you? Or maybe you want to pay even more for the 128gb 3T model whereas the OP3 doesn't even offer it.

Up 2 u m8

>>57617723
Enjoy it m8
Before you buy though look into the forums (for the honor for example) and check out what other users are saying.
>>
I haven't had an Android phone for a few years now, so I'm not familiar with the new ones. What are some of the top rated?
>>
>>57617730
Yes, android.
>>
>>57617765
see >>57615305
>>
>>57617773
Then you NEED 2gb of RAM for good performance. 1gb tends to go to system stuff alone. Android is terribly optimized due to hardware variance.
>>
>>57617764
The Honor is basically my only option, and the reviews I've seen have been positive, but I'll look into it a little more. Can you recommend a case?
>>
>>57617849
Sorry friend, cases are where I'm completely lost.
>>
>>57617831
Ok. Thanks, anon.
>>
>>57617523
Is op3t usable on verizon?
>>
>>57617877
Then I'll just buy whichever looks nice.
>>
>>57617831
This is the major reason why OP just threw in 6GB of ram with their latest devices. Android, well google in general, just eats a lot of ram.

>>57617888
I don't know, call them up and ask if it's an approved device. It works with Verizon, but Verizon still has to approve it for whatever fucked up reason.
>>
>>57589764
what do i buy when my Galaxy S5 breaks?
I don't care about gimmick features like high dpi or high clock on the cpu, i just want a phone that works, can be dropped, can take some water, isn't thick as fuck, pref ~5 inches.
I also need root and a minmal OS on it, the time when I used the samsung OS was the worst, it would get slower every single day and i could not do shit

forgot to mention i want a replaceable battery and sd card slot

No, because Android needs to be widely available across all hardware.

Nah, andromeda is where the optimization might happen (and that also means limited phone choice). Unless they go the android route again and make andromeda available -for all- which means fucked up shit desu

No, you're damn right about that.

How can it be impossible to get something on par with the GS5 3 years later?

Hey guys, mexibro here.
I'm using a shitty af Nexus 4 that I purchased 4 years ago & its touchscreen is barely workable now. Other than that it's perfect.

What's a sub 250 or 300 phone that I can get? I don't want any chinese botnet bullshit btw.

New as fag question guys but my previous smartphone broke and i need to replace it asap.

Now i was wondering which smartphone to buy, budget isnt really an issue, i do not really care about the camera or gaming ( although it is a plus ) what i usually do with it is reading and listening to music also. Should i really but the s7 edge meme?.

I always wanted a V10, but my Nexus 5 has been able to hold out long enough despite power button issues to allow me to skip it. There never was a Sprint variant, anyways...

I'm getting some extra cash soon, so I'm buying a new phone for Sprint service within the next few months. Used Sprint HTC 10 seem to hang around the 350-400 USD range, while the Sprint LG V20, which also greatly interests me, seems like it'd currently be snipable around 500 USD, so the price should drop pretty quickly as per LG's usual resale value issues.

HTC 10 is cheaper and has an active dev community (although that's not as important as it used to be to me), while the V20 is bigger, has a removable battery, and is generally more appealing to me. They both have MicroSD slots and great audio hardware, which is one of my main wants.

Anyone have any experience with both/either and have any suggestions?

>>57620604
My G4 experience is a detractor to me getting the V20; said G4 suffered from such hardware issues less than a year in. I got the phone for nearly free due to promotion abuse, but damn...

Also, RedPocket is selling their 1000min/1000txt/1gb per month plan for 149.99 USD for a year on eBay. That's around 13 USD a month... just in case one of you were looking for a cheap WiFi friendly plan that works on all networks.

HTC 10 has better camera, speakers/audio but "eh" battery life. OP3 has decent camera, newer tech, shittier audio experience. OP3T will def age better.
>>
>>57607104
Pixel for speed, screen, optimization, and great camera.
V20 for bootlooping, best camera, audio, and more features than most out of the box.
OP3T for best price/bang for buck. Not particularly amazing at much but a very solid phone. "Eh" camera and support tho.
