This is a blue board which means that it's for everybody (Safe For Work content only). If you see any adult content, please report it.

>>

>>touch bar bullshit instead of function keys
Function key are legacy hardware, nobody gives a shit about that useless waste of space.

>Shitty keyboard
Proof that you have zero contact with anything Apple related.

>>No port at all
Sure, have fun using your legacy hardware again.

>>No 32GB RAM option
Intel fault, if they didn’t invest their time and resources getting new products for you, the poor class, we could have nice things.

My $4.3k tMBP was worth 1 day of work pay, if you feel the need for a basic product for a basic person go and buy a Chromebook.
>>
You need to buy dongles to use it. For someone who loves apple it is always a good thing to be forced to buy more apple products. People can't say 'why are you wasting thousands of dollars on apple products when your children starve' , but now we can say 'I need it to use it'.
>>
>>57588390
I’m actually tired to hear poor people comments.
>>

This. Poor people are such a blight on society. They ought to all be disappeared. 'Tis a shame we require the fruits of their labor to be thus entertained.

>Best screen on any laptop to date
>4 universal ports to turn into anything you wish

Why am I still paying for a VGA port? That is called getting jewed. Apple are letting you make the machine have any port you wish, yes, with an adapter. This is the only objective way to suit everyone's needs and you can't refute that.

They just did. Now the market will cater to them because Apple is a behemoth in the industry. Other manufacturers are Apple's little bitches who only follow a trend when Apple approves. In 2 years USB-C will be the primary port on mobile devices, with maybe 1 USB-A 3.0 port for the slow to adapt people.

i'm rich enough to really not care about laptop money but i would buy something with ease of use, fucking dongle within dongle withing dongle is retarded and while i could buy dongleception on a whim i don't see myself doing it

and two, apple shit is really not a status symbol, at least not in my circles. funny thing is, all the bimbos that smell my wallet from across the room always ask me why i don't own one so... i guess that's the tier where iphones fit as a status symbol.

I cant even pug a fucking USB stick into it if someone brings me files, which happens daily, or a back up HD, or my printers, or scanners etc. Needing a god damn hub/dongles is completely retarded.

The touch bar is unnecessary gimmick. I expected better from a premium brand.

Hopefully they wise up next year and put some damn USB 3 ports and bring back the magsafe - it was a bloody good idea.

But usb-c is a waste of time.
We need stability when it comes to hardware.
We do not get progress if we have to change ports every few years.
And if you wanted to phase out the ports, you do it by having both until someone actually uses it.
As for using usb A the rest of my life, I don't really have a plan to use anything for the rest of my life, but I am a strong advocator of having an accessible wired connection.
Whether that is usb-c or a or something else, I don't really care as long as people have access to it.
I hope that technology will be held back by wires for many years because it means computers are useful for a wider array of things.
I know that the apple demographic is not using their hardware for anything important, but the other morons think that that copying apple is a good idea, so we will soon see this form of innovation on other laptops.

But how long is usb C going to stick around for?
Are you aware of how much hardware you have to replace if you want to switch all usb A to usb C?
Or do you think dongles are a nice technology?

People associate apple with mass produced electronics, i.e. daily objects used by the masses.

Whenever they try to make a product other than that, of course they get backlash. Because that product would get compared to the traditional apple catalog, i.e. mass produced electronics, and not the niche the product falls in.

Many examples like that. The solid gold apple watch wasn't compared to solid gold watches from watchmakers, it was compared to macbooks and iphones and what not, and deemed too expensive.

This book, the masses are gonna compare it to electronics and gadgets, and not niche art/design books.

People are on average, of average intelligence, and I wouldn't expect a different reaction.

Apple is a joke in many ways but their decision to push high-DPI screens was a good thing. IBM was out of the laptop business for 6 or 7 years when Apple launched the MacBook Pro with 2880x1800 display, a resolution higher than was ever present on an IBM ThinkPad (2048x1536 was the highest iirc)

In some respects I think we can thank Motorola for pushing high DPI, the Motorola Droid had a 854x480 display when phones from Samsung, Apple, and Palm (yes, Palm) were running 480x320 and lower resolutions. I think LG also had some pretty high res screens on their dumb phones like the envy 3 (800x480 iirc) before Apple ever went "retina" on the iPhone

I'm old enough to remember when Apple lost direction the first time around. One day they were profitable, the next day they were bleeding money even though they still had some good products.

They are running out of Steve's innovations and are in that aimless-but-still-profitable mode again. But if they keep releasing shit like Memebook their popularity will evaporate.

I really feel kind of bummed about the state of IT. Windows is useless botnet shit, and because of this I've skipped 8 and 10. Linux community can't get their act together and make truly easy/enjoyable to use distros. They also can't get the few truly must have commercial apps. And while I love OS X (hurr durr macOS), I see increasing cracks in Apple's armor. Buggy releases; meme changes to the UI and name; and now the memebook.

I'm ready to move to the woods and setup a retro room with no computer newer than the non-Retina MacBook Pro and no OS newer than Win7 or Mac OS 10.9.

Think of LiPos as tiny gas tanks that want to explode and start you on fire and you won't be far from the truth.

Unfortunately if we go back to any of the older battery chemistries we won't get all day battery life, we'll get lunch hour battery life.

Lipo is completely safe with proper safety checks and quality control.

Both things that have been a problem in all apple laptops (still are).

Can someone explain this 10/10 cyber-gymnastics to me? Do people just want to hate Apple all the time or is it just a vocal minority of angry Indians on the internet?

This. Apple laptops are notorious for constantly overheating and transferring the heat to the batteries. LiPo really really doesn't like being hot.

Except that's not where the heat goes and if you ever owned one you would know this.

>LiPo really really doesn't like being hot.

CPU/GPU waste heat is not the cause of any exploding LiPo's.
>>
>>57593716

Its not about it being the same people, its the people who bash Apple today using Steve's death sure as fuck weren't liking him when he was alive and were bashing him for being an unoriginal fraud back then.

Heat damages lipo cells and makes them more prone to catastrophic failure. Apple laptops have metal bodies, metal is a good heat conductor, you fill in the rest.
>>
>>57593745
[citation needed]

The people who miss Jobs today probably liked him and Apple 8 years ago.

>>57593752

You missed the point that EVERYONE has some percentage of products that experience lipo failure. When that percentage exceeds a certain threshold there's a recall and the news media get involved. Lipos are what they are, and they are not 100% safe no matter what you do.

You can beat the living shit out of NiCad and NiMH and they won't explode or burn like LiPo. That's why you can't find LiPo rechargeable batteries in the standard AA, AAA, C, D, and 9v sizes. Just NiCad and NiMH.

>Heat damages lipo cells and makes them more prone to catastrophic failure.
>Apple laptops have metal bodies, metal is a good heat conductor, you fill in the rest.

I OWN a MBP and I can run the CPU to 96C and slap my hand on the bottom. The heat is not flowing to the battery. The area around the CPU gets hot to the touch, top and bottom. But the battery is away from all of that.

Apple is my fav hardware developer for sure because my fav thing in IT is goofs, gags, jokes and rambunctious behavior, and their computers are full to the brim of it. Every laptop is like one of those novelty snake cans, you open the macbook & POP you get a face fulla snakes and you fall back cackling. The mad mind, the crack genius, to do it! and then you think hmmm whatre they gonna do next, those tricksters, and you pick the book back up and BZZZZZZZZZZ you get a shock and Hahahahahah you've been pranked again by the old applemeister, that card. "Did that dongle?" They say, laughing yukyukyukyuk. Watch them as they shove a pair of plastic buck teeth right up into their mouth and display em for you- left, right, center- "you like dese? Do i look handsome???" Pulls out a mirror. "Ah!" Hand to naughty mouth. And you're on your ass again laughing as they snap their suspenders, exits stage right, and appears again hauling a huge golden gong

Obviously, even 2880x1800 needs scaling otherwise everything is fucking tiny.

A higher res screen with scaling is perfectly acceptable. Instead of blurry poorfag pixels I see nice crisp clear text.

I'd rather have a throttling MacBook than a plastic Acer that has to be disassembled every couple of months so that the ribbon cable connecting the display can be plugged back in

Motorola pushed some pretty awesome shit early on in the smartphone era. The IPS screen on the Droid 1 was way better than most comparable phones at the time.

Holy shit this happened to my Acer Aspire 6930 laptop I owned like 10 years ago.

I effectively ruined the ribbons for the power button/touch bar, since it would always come undone. I'm sure it was my fault but fuck their ribbons.

tfw I have a spare C2D Acer that actually runs great except every damn time I touch the screen I have to squeeze the plastic case at the bottom to get it to come back on.
