Just ordered one of these for 80 britbongs, anybody else got one? I didn't do a massive amount of homework before I got it, I'm just sick to death of the Apple TV.
Do you have to pay a license to use it?

It's literally a rebranded generic tv box being sold for a premium because xiaomi xDDD
They're literally the apple of China, you fucked up.
Should have bought an orange pi pc 2 and installed android.
>>57583439
...but is it Android TV?
>>57583438
If i'm watching stuff live, then yes. Otherwise streaming files is all gud.
However, I have a licence despite the fact I don't need one.

It runs Andorid TV, which is licensed from Google.
Kodi runs nice on it as well as plex, it's not as good as the shield but it will get the job done. Also buy an external hdd for it

I'm moving over to this because Kodi is a pig on the apple tv 4, I used to use plex but stopped hosting local media once exodus starting getting good

Runs Android TV and can play 4k Youtube/Netflix... So it's way better than the generic chink boxes.

tfw I just ordered the 3S version for $60, fully equipped with chink botnet and AI.

I'm not sure which one i'm getting, I ordered it from here: https://www.thesolutionshop.co.uk/product/mi-box/
Looks like the basic model too me but it mentions HDR.
>>57584575
You got the newer model. The older model just has "Android" with a skin on top of it. This one however has "Built-in Android TV 6.0"

That's cheap enuf, but I'd have bought an RasPi 3 and installed Kodi.
Everything android sucks juts a bit too much.
>>57585067
this. not sure if raspi can handle 4k, but it's the best option for hd, even if i had android tv i would configure it to open kodi at startup, android+ kodi is just as usable as ubuntu+kodi so "android tv" might not be advantage

I'm embracing the botnet with google photos and play music, plus i've never got the chance to mess around with Android TV. I've got a Pi3 with Kodi, just playing the field a little.
>>57585883
it's still a good purchase though, it has great specs and chromecast support, plus this thing has hdr support for tvs which i don't have any idea wtf is but it must be a good thing
>>57586249
I've heard some shit about the chromecast support being pretty flaky, here's hoping it's all good!
