So /g/, will my phone explode if left to charge overnight? Or is this just some old wives tale? How many of you leave it charging overnight?

I don't know anyone who doesn't charge overnight.
It might, if you have a really shitty battery.

Had to do with a generic charger, and knowing England's excellent affinity for wiring stuff, the combo was doomed to burn everything down.
Use OEM equipment, goys. Concerning iPhones, get certified shit.
I charge overnight with the phone on the bed. Sometimes the phone ends up underneath me while i sleep.

>blaming it on the charger
>then saying it was the phone being left on the bed causing it to overheat
Fucking decide you dumb fucks.

If your phone explodes then it is because the battery shorts internally and enters a thermal runaway state. This is unlikely to be caused directly by charging the device, but rather due to some manufacturing error that punctures or pinches the battery during normal operating conditions.
However, a phone while will produce heat, which under the right conditions, may cause a fire if there are flammable sources nearby. It is normally safe to leave a device unattended while charging. Just make sure the charging wire is not pinched sharply and is not applying abnormal stress to the charging port.
Also to be extra save, don't leave the device charging on a bed of dried wood shavings.
