A basic file scanner for anything you upload would be courteous to the rest of the world.

Thank you, helpful anon, at least you're not a raging bellend.

I can't even run an application on Linux on purpose, I can't image how you could do it by accident.

Clamav.
There's a GUI frontend for it if you need one too.

Works fine for scanning shady usb flashdrives.
Will for for email attachments too.
>>
clamav is designed only to detect MS Windows malware. useless for scanning for linux malware.
its purpose is to be on things like email servers etc, to scan attachments for malware, not as a desktop antivirus.

There are no antivirus for Linux. There are many antivirus that can run on Linux but they're only looking for Windows' threats, while the actual problem with Linux is the huge amount of dumb exploits hidden in the kernel (e.g. pressing backspace 27 times, pressing intro for 90 seconds, and every other exploit that is discovered 10 years after its introduction). Allegedly there are only less than 20 Linux viruses and less than 60 threats, but we have no way to know for sure because nobody is looking for Linux viruses in the first place.
