Shuffling short videos using the OSC is horrible, works fine with keybindings. Is there any way to fix this?
>>
>>57569320
The directshow stack is better: mpc-hc, madvr and assfiltermod!

You can mimic some top features with shitty lua scripts and mpv hooks.
However expect poor performance and glitches.
>>
>>57569833
>assfiltermod

I thought that was a meme, is it really functional?
>>
>>57569881
Yes, much better than the internal mpc-hc subtitle renderer.
Use the nightly/latest build!

this retard never even used mpv.

Im using windows and dont have that problem.
One thing that really helps performance is putting

Why would I use this when potplayer exists?
>>
>>57570114
You are probably a linux fag that thinks using unofficial drivers are efficient.
Opengl and angle are terrible, dxinterop is very experimental.
No opencl or direct compute shaders.
Ewa* scalers are slower than madVR or MPDN.
>>
>>57570880
mpv performs just as well, if not better than mpdn or mpc-hc + madvr for me. And I'm on windows.

So, I stumbled upon this:

https://github.com/mpv-player/mpv/issues/2685

And after trying it out, I must admit that I can't go back anymore!
Minimal flicker, minimal blur, while still being amazingly smooth!

What does /g/ think about this tscale option for mpv?

(Remember to definitely activate tscale-clamp too though, else you'll get major ringing artifacts!)

>The directshow stack
Literal 90s technology. DirectShow is old enough to drink and I bet there are people ITT who were born after its first release. I'm a Windows user and I'm so happy to be free of that bullshit. I no longer have to keep up with which ASS filter, libavcodec wrapper and DirectShow front-end is least shit, nor do i have to rely on hacks like ReClock or make sure my system is clean of old codecs when I install a new one.

Anyone shilling DirectShow in these threads is prolonging the death of a deprecated technology. They're not only doing a disservice to their fellow Windows users, they're holding back digital video playback technology in general. DirectShow needs to be fucking buried already.
>>
>>57579033
not to mention that directshow is slated to be removed in future builds of windows.

It's seriously DirectX 1.0-era tech. It was introduced to dethrone Video for Windows technology in 1995.

Having a weird issue with MPV that just started last night.

Happens when using the x64 bit build from 16-08-26 from https://mpv.srsfckn.biz/ and seems to occur at random.

When I open a video file in MPV, the output to all of my monitors stops. Re-plugging the cables does nothing, mashing keys does nothing. The only thing I can do in this state is to restart the computer.

On my TV it'll begin displaying a message along the lines of "Input mode not supported" when this happens whereas my monitors just go black.

Running a GTX970 with the latest drivers, i7 4790k, 16GB RAM, Wangblows 10 x64.

MPV conf:

It's just not the default because it's more expensive to render or something. To use it you need to set
seekbarstyle = "knob"
in your osc.conf or whatever the name of that file was. Also I don't think there has been an official release since that commit so you'll have to use a compiled version.

Just make sure your PR follows basic sanity conventions: Don't lump shittons of changes into a bunch of fragmented commits like https://github.com/mpv-player/mpv/pull/3680

Instead make sure you have a series of clean commits that change only the code you want to change and nothing else, and based on the scope of your description it would probably only be a single commit to begin with.

That's pretty much the most important thing. Make your code/commits accessible, and people can comment on it and fix it.

Finally got it to stop dropping big chunks. it still has small glitches but it's watchable now. Not sure how to post code but here's what I piled on:

vo=opengl:scale=spline36:dscale=mitchell:tscale=triangle:dither-depth=auto:target-prim=bt.709:correct-downscaling=yes
profile=opengl-hq
vd-lavc-fast
scale=bilinear
cscale=bilinear
dscale=bilinear
scale-antiring=0.0
cscale-antiring=0.0
dither-depth=no
correct-downscaling=no
sigmoid-upscaling=no
deband=no
opengl-backend=dxinterop
cscale=ewa_lanczossharp
scale=ewa_lanczossharp
opengl-early-flush=yes
hwdec=no

It's a streaming webrip, I was just wondering if that was super high-bitrate which might cause issues. I'm on Arch

You have old syntax mixed with new. If you have a recent build you can delete the whole first line. And I might be wrong but I thought opengl backends are for windows.

also delete profile=opengl-hq

It just started throwing warnings now about suboptions being deprecated. Not sure why it didn't before.

Will try that. I've gotten to the point where it's ok in full screen, but still can't keep up in tiling mode.
