i use usenet for tv & movies. always used tpb for music but having a harder and harder time finding torrents.

i used to use headphones with usenet for music but it sucked ass like 3 years ago when i last tried. maybe i'll try again

Let's say I want to find the EP of a band I saw open for a touring band once.

How do I find a FLAC download on Usenet that is verified to be a proper rip/web source that isn't a transcode? Not looking for a step by step breakdown but just an overview of the difference in experiences would be helpful.

If there were a private usenet tracker, which there may be, it would be a good replacement.

I don't know of any personally though.

Been getting nearly all my download from alt.bin.* for the past 5-6 years or so. Don't regret a thing.

There are some closed communities encrypting all their uploads, but they're all after money first and foremost.

Usenet has largely been cracked as anti-piracy companies realized all they have to do is take out a handful of par files and they can make a binary useless. It's ok for new stuff, but anything more than a week or two old has a good chance of missing chunks.

Too bad, it used to be great.
