Should I block cookies and web-analytics?
>>57538839
Why? Are the companies involved using the information for nefarious ends?
>>57538830
Yes, cookies are a non-minimal bloated botnet
>>57538839
Yes.
Just whitelist the websites that you want to remember you.
>>57538956
Are there any (significant) disadvantages to turning them off?
>>57538830
Analytics, yes
Cookies depends on whether you trust the website and has an actual use.
e.g. remembering settings etc.

Your preferences from some websites won't be remembered
>>57538830
No, just permanently enable private browsing and restart your browser each day
>>57539927
What harm do you think can come from allowing analytics?
Genuinely curious.
>>57539941
is there a way to disable that atrocious cookie notification?
>>57538830
Block third party cookies in your browser to have 85% privacy with 100% convenience.
No, they enhance browsing experience.
>>57540268
To a great enough degree?
>>57539952
Google Analytics is on pretty much every website.
Not blocking them would make it even easier to be followed (based on browser fingerprint). Whether they actually do follow you or not through analytics remains the question, but I like to think they do.
Same goes for other analytic services

Do they use the information for nefarious purposes?
What's the best software for blocking analytics?
>>57542084
Anyone?
Sure, why not?
At least it will save some space in you RAM and internet traffic
>>57538830
install self destrucing cookies. it'll kill all cookies except for those of domains that you explicitly whitelist.
