Is there much benifit in water cooling a 1080? vs the non FE cards?
Getting some mixed info on what stable 24/7 clocks people are getting.
Numbers for 1070/1080 are all over the place. Half the review sites claim 1070s cap at like 2050 core clock stable, while I dont know of a single person who was unable to stably run at least 2100, mine even runs on ~2150. Not sure about liquid cooling on them though since the voltage is still capped so you dont really have that much room to go beyond what you can achieve with air. But I guess it would cool better, since the 1080s easily hit 80 degrees.

MSI 1080 EK GTX 1080 owner here.
the block doesnt increase the potential overclock because the Voltage is locked on Pascal.
the smaller chip doesnt like higher voltage.
i hit a wall at 2,120mhz
BUT you will see the MAX potential Boost clock almost 100% of the time.
my 1080 runs 1,987Mhz 99% of the time hovers around 34-37C and that's 100% stock settings.
(will go 2,012mhz when under 30C)
Another thing to look at is the temps.
the VRMS,Core,Vram, and pcb are all 1/3 the temp of an air cooled cards.
it will last WAY longer
EXAMPLE:
MANY HD5970s fried with air cooling, but the watercolor ones were fine 4+ years later

That's actually the exact card I was looking at. You running a single radiator? I was planning on a loop like that also instead of the double radiator. With a 6700k.
The 1080 Ti is looking to be a fail pit for the $900 price people are talking about. Figure the thing to do is get a 1080 and oc.

i use a 480 double thick XSPX rad.
doubling the thickness acually nets about 14% increase cooling capacity.
so get a thin rad that's as big as ur case allows.
loop is an old 2600k 4.6ghz-Ram-mobo block(both useless) 8x fans total.
but again, Pascal doesnt OC worth shit because Boost 3.0 already gets 90% of potential performance automatically.
the 1080ti will go for $1,000 just watch.
the fucking normies are all over Nvidia GPUs these days and will pay the prices.

Ya given that the Titan Pascal is at best a 25-30% increase over a 1080 with stutters. I don't expect the Ti to be worth a damn. But fanboys will buy it regardless.
I have a Corsair 750d case and some people have modded it slightly to fit a triple 140mm radiator. I may go that route with all EK stuff for simplicity. I haven't done a water cooling set up in years so no idea what brands are best currently. Though I see Dangerden isn't around anymore which is a shame.

CE 420 radiator I mean.
>>57522536
>CE 420
most brands are within 5% cooling performance
it's more of what you think looks better for the most part.
a 360 would work fine
some high pressure fans and shit
