Tor Browser
it's just firefox pre-configured to protect your privacy, and if you don't want to use Tor you can set it up to work without Tor, just launch the browser directly and mess with the settings so it connects to the normal internet. But at least still use a VPN

You would. Anonymity is impossible given the nature of the internet. Using a fake identity or pretending to be someone else is way more effective. Using a billion addons to make sure your browser doesn't broadcast anything and tunneling all traffic through a VPN makes you infinitely more suspicious and identifiable than just going to a Starbucks and looking something up with Chrome on a spare laptop.

You will never be invulnerable, but you can make data about yourself less available, less accurate, and more expensive to acquire - and that's still valuable, especially if you are not someone who has raised so many red flags as to be worth spending a lot of resources and individual attention on to track
