In the midst of a complete PC upgrade, the main component being a GTX 1080. Should I just wait for the release of the Ti variant? Is there any point?
The 1080 is already a supremely powerful card.
Only wait if you're going for 4K

Don't have the funds to make 4k run gloriously. I just felt that waiting a few months for the Ti would help future proof my system even more

We don't even know if there's going to be a Ti. Even if there is, you're basically waiting on AMD, since Nvidia won't release it until just before Vega is ready, since they'll want to ruin that launch.

1070 is enought for 4k you stupid, stupid people.

wait for ti because till that time AMD should release their cards and it all should become cheaper for you. also who knows maybe AMD will be faster. and talking about future proof it definitely will be.

Yeah, if you want to play at 30fps or medium settings. It doesn't even come close to cutting in modern titles on high settings at 4K. Neither does a 1080 for that matter. The Titan XP is currently the only card which can ALMOST run the latest games on high settings at 4K, but even that's not quite there.

G-SYNC™ can make 10 fps look like 60
