tl;dr but:
-they often take the most of the webpages. You go to a site to view its content, not 3rd party ads
-annoying: popups, random shit opening in new tabs/windows, dumbass dialogs appearing out of nowhere are not something one enjoys.
-"almost" "offensive": some people don't apprentice "how to get a girlfriend", "how to lose weight", "how to keep your erection for 2 hours" or "how to enlarge your benis" ads if they have the problem these ads target.
-slows down your browser: some ads are complex javascript programs or fucking flash objects that slow your browser/machine and drain your battery if you use a laptop
-bad ads: a lot of ads are scams, advertise shady services/pyramid games/illegal gambling/other illegal crap
-tracking ads: a lot of if not all 3rd party ad services track you in one way or another.
-simply fucking irrelevant: when I browse gentoo.org I don't mind VPS/server rental ads. When I browse /a/ I don't mind jlist ads. However when I browse sourceforge don't bother me with "dermatologists hate her" crap, fucking taboola.
