Munich is the pioneer of en masse migration from Windows to Linux after the city started the transition to open-source software in 2004 and completed it many years after that, but it turns out that local authorities are once again considering going back to Windows and Office in the coming years.

There you have it folks.
Munich fell for the opensores meme and regrets it.

Too bad that the problems they have aren't related to Linux
>>
Oh look guise - A new set of people in the goverment in 2016 are making different choices than the old set of people in goverment in 2004!
Even the *new goverment* knows that linux is shit haha kek

100€ says 90% of those bugs and crashes were HR cunts being too dumb to adapt to and use a program whose UX is almost exactly the same as the M$ software they used before, or compatibility problems when they did part of their work at home on their Wangblows machines using M$hit Orifice, then tried to import them in LibreOffice.

TL;DR
1D10t errors everywhere.

>>57459114
As expected, Linux isn't meant for the everyday office.
>>
They are abandoning all free software on the govt. here in Brazil too.
Turns out they didn't want to pay people skilled enough to use these kind of programs.

>compatibility problems when they did part of their work at home on their Wangblows machines using M$hit Orifice, then tried to import them in LibreOffice.

The new docx formats are very proprietary and patent protected. The new versions of office force you to use the new format. It formats all of your old documents to docx the second you install it and deletes the old copies. Windows 10 installs a trial version of the new office automatically.

Microsoft it not making this easy.

Sure they are.
> stop using M$ products
> use superior open formats

> but muh old documents
You will never EVER look at or edit 90% of them again; print them or convert to pdf. Saves space, is much more likely to be supported on other platforms.
50% of the remaining documents /spreadsheets you can import into LibreOffice and fix with minimal work.
Copy the remaining few documents by hand; it'll be a piece of work but after that you're forever free of compatibility issues.

This is why shitnux will never be relevant

Clerks and Linux — good joke. Also, nice bait, poster.

They announce it every season.

This. MS Office isn't in any way better than LibreOffice, except in opening it's own formats, and LibreOffice is completely free and being open source already beats MS Office.
Saying ms office is better than LibreOffice just because it can open docx files without issues is like saying apple trees are better than orange trees for growing apples. It's obvious, but that doesn't make MS better. Switching to libre formats is always going to be more profitable for any company.
>>
>>57460736
Not only that but MS Office has compatability issues between versions. So that apple tree comparison only works for the same type of apple.
>>
>>57460736
Better file formats don't help much when you have to work together with other companies insisting on using MS Office shit.
>>
>>57460910
As if anyone cares about anything more than the most basic shit which has 0 compatability issues on LibreOffice, not like they'll send documents with word art or some random bullshit.
>>
>>57461061
I have MS Office documents at work which will get screwed up if edited in LibreOffice.
You can't just count on other people not including shit in the documents causing compatibility issues.
Also, what >>57460893 said is true, too. When even MS Office can't handle its own formats, how is anyone supposed to do it?
