8.1 is fine. No memes. No telemetry update.

Install classic shell. Never hit Ctrl Windows if you don't want to be triggered.

>>
>>57455644
you probably have mismatced ram sticks
I had the same issue when I tried using some sticks that where 1333mhz and 1600mhz.
the 1333mhz did not like using the 800mhz bus speed, and the 1600mhz ram did not like using the 666mhz bus speed.
not sure on the exact numbers, but it was something with the base clock + multiplier and the ram sticks not liking it.
I went from 4x4gb mixed to 2x4gb + 1x8gb all matching ram and I haven't had any issues since

I upgraded my Windows 7 to Ubuntu 14.04 about a year ago.
Never even looked back since then.

Start with Linux Mint or Ubuntu and you'll understand, trust me.
Then you might try Debian, Arch (or Manjaro), etc. and you'll never need Windows again.

I imagine that right now, you're feeling a bit like Alice. Hmm? Tumbling down the rabbit hole?

If you start using GNU/Linux, you'll see the truth: That you are a slave, Anon.
Like everyone else you were born into bondage.
Into a prison that you cannot taste or see or touch.
A prison for your mind.

This is your last chance.
After this, there is no turning back.
You take the Windows pill - the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe.
You take the GNU/Linux pill - you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes.

People don't download Linux because it's faster or more practical than Windows, they download it because they like fucking around with otherwise simple processes.

Linux users are like gearheads who would prefer spending $500 on a rustbucket that will sit in a $50k home workshop, so they can show us their drill press, arc welder, and hydraulic lift, and talk all about how spending 40 hours a week fixing a salvaged car is actually saving them money and how people who don't do this aren't "getting the most out of their car".

I don't care, I don't want to spend hours fucking with a simple problem, because unpacking things is ALWAYS a new problem, instead of just running a 5mb executable on Windows. I just want it to work while giving me software options, and Linux just doesn't work when you want to use it for something straightforward.

http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04714314

Windows 10 broke my HP printer drivers that I need for work last month. Then windows update itself stopped working and keeps breaking on their stupid definition update for windows defender even after using the windows update tool to fix the updater/clear the old file. Can't skip that update either because MS doesn't allow you to pick and choose updates in 10.

Don't know if they fixed it since then but fuck them anyway.

Now I'm back on Windows 7, but I haven't updated with the new shitty monthly rollups yet because no one seems to be discussing how to unfuck them from telemetry and other bullshit here.

XP is not entirely dead till 2019, since there is Windows Embedded POSReady 2009 and Windows Embedded Standard 2009.

Also there are variants of Windows 7 that ends support late 2021(july?) such as Windows Thin PC. No exceptions for Windows 8 though.

All distros are equally terrible and you can't just run executables to install anything. Something's always missing and hardware drivers are frequently buggy on Linux. I don't have the time or patience to put together a puzzle every time I want to install a new program or reconfigure my wireless card.

Windows 7 user here. Still got two machines running xp. I've no plans to move to windows ten. I don't care about the support cut off date. long as my a/v provider and browser provider support 7 I'm good.
