Tbh, the only fault I could find on the regular s340 is the plexiglass window which scratches if you look at it wrong. The elite one solves the issue by using tempered glass.

I paid less than €60 for the regular S340, when they came out. The Elite is more than double that, where I live.
If I were you I'd bet on the Elite, given that slight price bump compared to the regular one.

Anyway, go for the color that goes best with your setup. The white one looks amazing with white boards, tho. The black one is more neutral and gives you room to play around with whatever colour scheme you want.

I have a 500GB SATA SSD and a 250GB M.2 950 Pro for my boot drive.

All games and programs that have I/O concerns are on SSDs. Only my media is kept on HDDs.


Also my 5TB HDD is a 7200 RPM WD black drive, so it would be decent performance if I had to use an HDD for something.

It keeps my 6600k nice and cool, it was easy to install, and it looks better than any Coolermaster unit. I don't think I will ever go to water cooling with the price and performance of Cryorig's air coolers.

Yeah it was a pleasure to build in... definitely made me sit and think a few times. The HDD isn't really mounted though its held in place pretty snugly between the gpu and the from fascia. I had to cut a little tab from the bottom of the slot long gpus fit through in order to fit the drive in there. I'm thinking about sitting it on top of the radiator where the stock drive tray goes but without the tray b/c it wont fit with the cables for the ssds in the way.

It was an act of the Flying Spaghetti Monster to get that case cooled down the stock Xeon coolers are shit I found some Thermaltake coolers that work much better and quieter. I had to fab a bunch of shit to cool the memory and power supply, but if you have decent airflow it will probably run cooler.

I think that /guts/ is the best thread to ask.

I dont understand, what is the problem with my CPU cooler. I will probably get better one anyway, possibly NH-U12S (unless you will convince me not to), but I just wanted to know. Right now, I use SilentiumPC Fera 3, model that was supposed to be on level of famous CM 212 Evo.

CPU in question is i7-6700k (stock freq and voltages), with GA-Z170-HD3P motherboard. During heavy use, it easily reach 85C and even 90C, which is probably too much.

At first I thought I applied the paste the wrong way, but when I removed radiator, it looked like it was spread evenly. Funny enough, I expected it to be hard to remove, but paste went off easily by just dry swab. So I applied small dot on the middle and pressed it.

I ran some CPU heavy software and while temperature could reach 85C again, both air flowing off and radiator itself (yes, I checked) were rather cool.

How should I interpret that? Does it mean that the problem is with heat draining from CPU to radiator?

If you can feel, that the cooler get colder the further away from the CPU you gets, it should work somehow.
But that means the heatpipe/coppercore is not working or connected to the rest of the heatfins.

Custom loops are only unsafe during assembly and maybe the first couple days while the loop is settling. once all the pressure is leveled out, the air bubbles are bled and the o-rings are fully seated, you either do or do not have a leak. generally speaking, you'd want to replace the fluid at least once a year. the drain process is super simple and safe if you include a drain valve down low and utilize a bleed valve up top.
refilling the loop is only dangerous if you refuse to use a funnel, or if you have shaky hands. if you use a dissimilar fluid, and don't rinse the loop, you may run into some bacterial growth but all of these are easily avoidable with correct maintenance. 20mins/year. additionally, non-conductive fluid kind of eliminates the actual damage from a leak, but you still have to clean it up & replace a fitting.

AIOs generally have a life expectancy of 2-6 years, depending on model. Asetek's patents allow for pretty reliable operation. I have had 1 Asetek AIO fail out of the 3 I've purchased. It lasted about 3 years with heavy use. Mine didn't leak, but the fluid coagulated and siezed the pump.

Makes sense. Can I go through this process without actually fitting the blocks to the computer components? As in, run the pump and circulate the fluid without the system being actually mounted on the computer. This way, if there are any leaks, it won't affect the system.

I'm not quite sure how these things affect the safety of the system.

I suppose if components are exposed to higher pressures than they're designed to withstand, it can provoke leaks or failures in general. Shouldn't pressure levels be predictable though? Is the pressure higher at first and levels out with time?

yes. most people would recommend you test the pump externally. you are welcome to attempt to measure out and build the loop outside the case, but installing the finished product becomes substantially more difficult. for a first attempt, this may be worth the extra time & effort.

air bubbles prevent the flow of fluid, and thusly limit the thermal energy transfer potential. ideally, the loop would only have air at the top of the reservoir, where it sits idly out of the way. think of a bubble in a tube as a broken down car on a 3-lane freeway. Sure, cars can still pass, but EVERYONE gets slowed down by it, thereby reducing the efficiency of the freeway.

it's highly unlikely you'll ever completely eradicate bubbles from the radiator unless you were to fill it by submerging the entire loop, shaking it, spinning it, and letting the air leak out naturally. this is, for obvious reasons, impractical. once the loop is installed, the most common practical method to mitigating bubbles is to rock the case back and forth until the vast majority of bubbles make their way into the reservoir. this can take hours or days, depending on the complexity of the loop and the placement/orientation of the rad(s).

this is generally not something you'll need to worry about if you buy decent fittings but if you're familiar with plumbing you'll understand that Metal-Metal contact requires immense pressure to be water tight. That's why you need rubber seals. Some o-rings are perfectly round all the way round, donut shaped, and they can be rolled into place. If you do this, you need to ensure they get rolled evenly so that no side of the ring is jutting out moreso than the rest, and that even pressure is achieved. in some cases, the pressure of having so much fluid moving by that a leak can occur. seating the rings properly is easy enough.

yes. if you replace the fluid, you'll want to run distilled water (or recommended fluid) to remove the old residue from the loop. same as flushing your car's radiator loop.

it's really bad. if bacteria grows, you'll never eradicate it and you'll have colonies clogging your loop and you'll have to replace all of it. the solution is simple; Anti-Bacterial additive. They're like 6$. google 'biocide' or 'biocidal agent'

I have read the threads about the SENTRY, and it did indeed look interesting.
But I want the system to take with me, and I can better see it fitting in the thicker configuration of the DANCase.

There was also a guy (QinX) that made an ultra compact watercooled PC.

Also I tried to make simple constructions in wood, to try out the SENTRY's placement of hardware. And atleast with the hardware I have in my many mITX builds, it was not that efficient as soon as I started up GTA5/HITMAN™.
