I do not trust my roommate (an engineer), and he has been very fishy when it comes to our shared Internet. We are using his modem and everything.
Is it possible to be safe while using someone else's modem+router? I have an Apple Airport!

Really there's the option of getting your own internet. Other than that, you are being too intrusive. Unless he's done something to make you believe rather than just you guiding yourself by feminine principle, there's not much you can do that he can't undo.
