ZTE Axon 7 is really nice and I think it's like $400? I hear it's probably the best smartphone for sound quality in existence.
The downside is the camera. It's pretty bad. Also ZTE's UI they stick over Android isn't too pretty, but it's not as bad as Samsung's TouchWiz.

OnePlus 3 or ZTE Axon 7

Can't go wrong with either, although the OP3 has a fuck ton of custom rom and community support due to it being somewhat techno hipster popular.
