Should i get an HP G5 250 with an i3 5005u, 4gb ram, 500gb hdd and 1080p screen for 365euros or a model with an i5-6200u for 470 euros? is the price difference worth it? both are new
i also found a "new unused" acer with an i5 6200, 8gb ram, 1tb hdd and a 1600x900 screen for 380euros, seems like an excelent deal
>inb4 integrated graphics
i don't need a dedicated gpu, the hd 5500 or hd520 get the job done
i would also appreciate some other laptop recommendations for under 500$

I think you can do better.
Look into business class laptops. Thinkpads might be a meme on /g/ but the broader point is valid: business class laptops are significantly better than laptops directed at consumers. Parts are easy to come by, repairs are expected to be made so the laptops are made modular and repairs are generally easy, and businesses tend to get them on lease so you can get a fully-spec'd 2-3y/o laptop on the cheap at any given time as the lease runs out and they're dumped en masse onto ebay.
I'm currently using a E6430 with 16gb ram, i5-3340m, 480tb ssd, 1600x900 display, 9 cell battery, got a $30 docking station so I can use 3 1080p monitors at home. I don't play games so I don't care about graphics, but I'm sure civilization or counter strike would play fine. The total cost has been less than $300, and if I waited another month I could probably have done it for $50 less.
You could shoot for an E6440, it's a year newer than mine. I'm sure you're in no shortage of info on thinkpads here on /g/, as well. Otherwise, the HP elitebook line is good, too.

>i3 5005u
Don't buy old CPU for that price. I got a probook 11 G1 EE with an i3 5005u for $300. Get something with at least a 6100u.

This. Consumer laptops compete at razor thin margins and often have horrible design such as delicate power jacks soldered to the system board.
There being no standard laptop form factors as with desktop cases, choosing a unit popular and proven by large business fleet users is the way to go.

i don't really want to buy a used laptop

the 5005u is the bare minimum for that price, its either that or the i5

lenovo ideapad 100 i3 5005u + 920mx here.
$300.
only bad thing is, there is only 1 dimm slot.
similar models from asus and hp is the same.

Its not great, but you can do light browsing with it with no problems.

fuck those are some good deals
too bad im not from the uk
i3 doesn't overheat due the lack of turboboost that is present on i5.
i5 may overheat when the turboboost gets in.
this turbo crap should not exist on laptop configurations that are not capable to maintain a good cooling like a PC does.
