It's happened before. And not by a close call, they fucking ruined Intel in the past. Keep an eye on their APU stuff. Even with their older line they've dominated anything that need a single CPU and GPU package. With their newer APUs, Apple, Alienware, Xbox, PS4 and Nintendo are all using them. HP and Dell SFF towers are all moving to AMDs newer lines of Zen and APUs for performance to cost. Intel should be sweating for the APU market alone, even if Zen performance chips are shit.

I _would_ be getting Zen on day one, if it weren't pretty much fact that we've got months of waiting before nice motherboards come out. At the moment the only things leaked are garbage or OEM stuff. Unless I can get a £300+ super edgy motherboard with all the trimmings, I won't be getting a chip.

I've had intel cpus all my life.
First PII (233 MHz, this was the shit, got it right after release, everything ran soooo smooooth), then P4(yes, i know, netburst, >implying, etc.), then C2D and finally I'm here shitposting with the help of an i7.

However, I'm in the process of buidling a new desktop, and I just realised I don't even need i7. I probably don't even need unlocked i5.

So I would very much like to see AMD release ZEN as an "here's an i5 performance for a bit less than Intel". I would get that.

The problem is i just know one of 2 things will happen:

Zen is worse than Intel CPUs, which kinda defeats the point of buying it (why, I will write in a second)
Zen is better or equal to Intel CPUs = you can bet yo ass it's gonna cost the same as Intel. And if I wanted to buy a CPU that's as powerful as Intel, that costs the same as Intel, guess what, I'll just buy Intel.


My main problem with AMD is their pricing - here where I live for the same money I have a choice of (we're talking brand new) i5-6500 or FX-8350. I'm not gonna buy 4 year old CPU on an EOL platform when I can get skylake, which is not a housefire, is better and has the option to upgrade to KL if I choose to.

I don't care about USA or w/e prices, I care for prices where I live - and here AMD has been consistently retarded with their prices, where the famous war of GTX1060 vs RX480 ended before it started, with GF selling for close to MSRP (+- what is around $5) and RX selling for the equivalent of $400. Four (4) HUNDRED fucking dollars.

tl;dr AMD has retarded pricing where I live and I suspect the Zen to be the same, altho I would really like to buy it if that's not the case.
