The madman comcast did it. The end for pirate(AKA jew/ terrorists) is fucking neigh. limiting data at 1TB and then lower it later to 400GB later after customers accept 1TB. All the other companies will soon follow probably the world. Heil comcast motherfuckers.

I can't wait for 4k streaming to become commonplace and all of the retards realize "Oh so thaaaaaat's why Comcast put that 1TB cap in five years ago".

They're forward thinking when it comes to fucking their customers in the ass.
>>
>>57408244
I live on the Gulf Coast and the best internet provider (Cable One) has a 500 GiB per month limit, and that's the plan that costs almost $80 per month* and their "best" plan. Do people really need to hog this much (1TB) data?
*for the first three months, heaven knows what the full cost is
>>
>>57408351
So you're fucked; therefore everyone else should be?

I'm not OP; but I can literally shit 1TB+ a month from my HOUSE. This doesn't even include PIRACY; it's streaming from YT, HULU, NETFLIX, etc.

>>
>>57408375
Yes, honestly. One time I sent an e-mail and it took 7 hours to arrive on the other side! SEVEN HOURS! IIRC it was from my Google Mail account to an ISP account. The reason that king of shit happens is because people stream video, download games, etc. TOTAL waste of data. If I were in charge of the internet I would limit all entertainment traffic to 512 MiB per second. That way people who do important things and use lots of data (for example transferring a server backup, or maybe uploading large amounts CAD files, etc.) would have the system cleared. The reason the internet is so slow these days is because people shit up the network with Netflix and such. I know it's anecdotal, but after everyone gets home from work my internet speed throttles, and in early hours of the morning it doubles. That kind of cancer needs to be prevented. People will learn, eventually, once large data privileges have been taken away, to stop wasting data. I get 50 GiB per month (I split a 300 GiB plan with multiple users) and use it wisely. Usually I only end up actually using about 30 of those 50 GiB, and that's including entertainment.

As soon as there was wind of Google throwing in the towel on fiber I knew what would happen. Comcast and the others threw so much money at municipalities to block competition that it finally paid off. Now they can exert their monopolistic force to make users swallow whatever load they force down their throats and if you want internet there's nothing you can do about it.

Do you know how much 1GB transfer costs the company that owns the lines?
We haven't had caps since DSL was introduced in early 2000s here in Sweden. Now we have 100-1000Mbit lines even in small towns of 10k people and still no caps and pay $20-40 depending on speed.
>>
>>57408594

You dont have a point. It's not your or the ISP's fucking business what people do with their connection.
It costs them less than ONE CENT to transfer 1GB of data, you're already paying for tens of terabyte of data with your monthly fee.
>>
>>57408607
Dude, you don't understand something. Stop trying to roll with the but boys and listen them once. We have taken your thread over; go read about QoS and how cheap it is to lay fiber lines. Once you've done that come back here in the coming weeks and argue with some other anon on why you don't understand how the internet works.

I am not the person who posted this thread. My argument is not the expenses of fiber or anything else. I am just a man who noticed a pattern of, whenever my neighbors started streaming on Netflix, my internet started slowing down. Now, you have still failed to explain to me exactly how processing the large amount of multimedia traffic doesn't slow down the network. Does it just magically float through? Honestly you sound like a feminist or similar person who, instead of laying down an argument, just says "educate yourself", gets all pissy, and attacks the other person. I hope this characterization is incorrect. Please inform we with facts if you are trying to convince me of something.
>>
>>57408679
>whenever my neighbors started streaming on Netflix, my internet started slowing down
such is life with CABLE, you're sharing your neighborhood's speed over the TV lines. riot and make your shit tier ISP lay down fiber or stop living in a 3rd world country. even shit tier eastern european countries have gigabit connections
>>
>>57408679
Oh, then here is your problem:
1. You have no data to support your claim.
2. If your ISP is over provisioning their lines you're getting fucked by them; not the users.
>>
>>57408679
my god your a nitwit,

>whenever my neighbors started streaming on Netflix, my internet started slowing down.

Yeah, that started with DOCSIS, there where old gags about it.

the problem isn't your neighbors, its the cable companies not upgrading their connections because they are fat and lazy organizations reaping maximum profit for least effort, and you are supporting their removal of your usage ability for profit.

Dipshit
>>
>>57408679
Also, you fucking stupid cunt. I told you to read about QoS. I never said that it doesn't tax the network. It lowers the ISPs specified traffic priority; which i know for a fact Comcast uses.
>>
>>57408607
W. Stallings "Data and Computer Communications", or A. Tanenbaum "Computer Networks" would be good starting points.
>>
>>57408679
>My ISP is an asshole who gave my block a setup connected to a router that can't process the speeds they offer to everyone simultaneously / gives no QoS, while charging like they do
>So data caps are good! (Note: they won't even solve your problem, just make it less frequent towards the end of the month)

Look at the Gulf Coast region. Some areas with similar economic product have fiber support. There's simply nothing I can do about it. Both Cable One and Bell South (which is even WORSE, 768 KiB per second when I had it) are massive corporations with no alternative.
>>57408748
Of course I would approve of a policy that benefits me. Data caps benefit me, so why should I be mad about them again?
>>
Man you are trolled so easily

>>
>>57408804

But they do:
- Times with little multimedia activity = increased speed
- Times with large multimedia activity = decreased speed
Now, we cap transfer speed (as I said in my original post, 512 KiB per second for multimedia) harshly, my problem would disappear.
>>57408722
I could not find a single page on the Cable One website talking about quality of service, other than this:
"...All efforts will be made by our
service technicians and other associates to resolve any complaints concerning the technical quality of service promptly
and efficiently. If your problems are not resolved to your satisfaction, please feel free to speak to your cable system
general manager, who will review the problem and take corrective action..."
Which is obviously not talking about any standards or implementations. As far as I can tell, they do not support it.
>>
>>57408837
i dont give a shit, you're an idiot if you think it makes a different, it will still be shit for majority of the time, no matter what the cap limit is, and it just invites them to jew you more by lowering with some idiotic excuse, and people like you will just accept it, while the rest of the world enjoys their unlimited fiber connections.

caps limit your freedom, it's not the ISP's business what people do with their connections, caps wont fix any problems.
>>
>>57408885
that's not what I said
thanks for implying I am pro caps and said anything along the lines of "we benefit from it"
