It would also be insanely difficult to implement since the RCP has software rewritable microcode. There's other architectural quirks too. I think we'll sooner see a GameCube implemented in FPGA since it actually has a straightforward architecture. Nearly every design decision that went into making the GameCube was a reaction against the n64 and its developer unfriendly nature.
