Probably because he (or more likely, she) is a dumbshit feminist slob that doesnt have any real skills so they want to get in on the cs meme
I hate how this show relies on characters not being honest with each other for no real reason other than to move the plot forward

some writers can't into drama without using the characters that constantly lie and keep secrets. it's very popular and not limited to this series

What >>57387389 said isn't exactly the "wrong" approach, but it is very math heavy. You don't learn as much of the language as you do math programming. Now, if you choose to go the Scheme/Racket route, I would rather suggest The Scheme Programming Language by Kent Dybvig (using Racket as the Scheme implementation). Perhaps even Realm of Racket would do you some good, but I've never actually read it myself, just heard good things about it.

Because you need to understand the logic and process of math in order to program well.
People who complain about math when doing programming are the same dipshits that made a CS degree worthless

Ah, I suppose you're right. I come from a rather math-heavy background, so I already have that under my belt and hadn't considered other people not not have the same experience I do.

definitely not in /g/

Install gentoo.
Then you can start with innocent things like bash, what will lead you to heavier drugs like C and assembly
>>57387247
Codecademy, or thenewboston tutorials. Books are overrated

By programming
Start a project
Read CLRS
Then move into the theory of computation by Sipser.
From there read Baby and Papa Rudin.
