Have any of you tried Android x86? It's a port of Android that you can install on your computer.

I'm curious to give it a go and install it on a secondary computer. I think it would be pretty cool if I got a touchscreen monitor to go with it and have the world's most powerful Android tablet

dedicating an entire desktop machine to google's shitty ecosystem so you can use gimped trash apps designed for 5 inch screens is monumentally retarded

Found the macfag. You're not required to use the GAPPS. You can install ANY apk compatible with Android.

You don't have to use google apps

that's cool. you can use a bunch of shitty f-droid apps too and have less functionality than you normally would just running linux straight. enjoy your mediocre mobilecentric applications.

You do have a point. Gnome3 is designed for touch screens. If I, the OP, were to buy a touchscreen monitor for my computer, I would be better off using a distribution of linux with Gnome3.

If you use Remix OS, you can set custom multitouch gestures to make Android more usable a touchpad. Unfortunately, Android x86 can't use custom gestures.
