If you can disable the device in Device Manager, any malware with admin privileges or malicious firmware can switch it back on. If you are worried about being spied on through your webcam and your webcam activating without the light switching on, you should physically disconnect it or put tape over it. I don't see how disabling it in software would give you any peace of mind.

Well, most software that would require now a webcam it tells me that my lpatop does not have one. whenever I need it, I can enable it manually with a few clicks.
