If I download software then download a crack for it, how likely is it that I have just put a trojan or other malware on my computer? I am not a simpleton when it comes to computers I have had many many jobs in computer centres over the last 20 years, but one issue I can never get to the bottom of is whether software cracks and keygens all contain viruses, and if not, why are they all flagged as such by AV software? I have read a lot on the subject but nobody definitively nails it
100% u gonna get hacked and lose your bytes
a crack modifies an executable, any self respecting AV is going to flag that as suspicious.

good answer, so it may not be dropping a payload but it is doing something that gets it flagged

>using software that needs crack
drugs are bad, mkay?
>>57373739
I cant afford fruity loops i admit
>>57373665
100%. Why wouldn't they contain viruses if av software will flag it anyways?

Uninstall AV software. It's all useless botnet bloat.

Crackers generally don't attach viruses. However, their cracks can have viruses attached. Crackers would less care to submit their photo ID + "here's the hash for the virus free version of this crack" to antivirus companies, so said comps flag all cracks.

How likely? Well, just as likely as having your ass stuffed with nigger cock by bending over in a gay bar butt naked.
Avoid piracy, anon. It is evil and makes you a thief.
op here: it would be useful if pirates actually setup websites themselves that listed the hash for the genuine crack and the hashes for cracks that are infected. If the pirates started getting nearly as moral as the anti-pirates it would make for a more interesting game
Why the fuck are the fonts in your screenshot so damn blurry?
>>57373665
Install Gentoo

probably because its an image that people have saved/screenshotted/cropped/etc and reposted 20x on facebook, which resizes images automatically

>I have had many many jobs in computer centres over the last 20 years
Which is why you are on an anime imageboard asking this question.
Using "cracked" software without a VM is a great way to get malware.
The more sophisticated malware is tested against AVs so that they are not detected.
>I am not a simpleton
Right.
>I have read a lot on the subject but nobody definitively nails it
There is actually a lot of info out there if you take the time to research and read the material. If you are not interested in reading, then learn how to use a VM. There is some info in the /g/ wiki.
Good luck. And stop lying about your "experience" with computers. Someone with the credentials you list would not be here asking the questions you are asking.
