first of all, the xps 13 with qhd-display does not last 15h it barely holds 6 hours, considering you're linking 9350 and not 9360 which has a bigger battery.

Also, almost every xps that is shipped has a distinct coil-whine sound due to some power-supply problems. I actually returned mine because it had so many noises coming from it.

Which laptop should I get for development? I'm a devop, so pure power on the machine isn't paramount. I was using a Dell XPS something from 2014 with Ubuntu before, but so many things didn't workr nicely. So I'm leaning towards a 2015 MBP, but I'm not an apple man so I don't know if it is the right choice.

I own one, it's very well made. The battery life is fine. Of course it doesn't last long if you're gaming.

The fans aren't that loud. And they are only noticeable when gaming. If you are in a room with any kind of background noise you won't hear them.
