Is there any reason not to just use Adobe Reader for PDFs?

Sumatra is better if you just want to view PDFs; it is faster.

as in, it doesn't come preinstalled on anything, so i'd need to pick a pdf reader anyway, what reason do i have to choose adobe reader? it's non-free, massive, and does things i don't need a pdf viewer to do

the stock PDF reader on OS X (Preview) has been make a joke of Acrobat for normal PDFs for well over a decade now

I've literally never seen or heard of anyone who uses that piece of shit. I tried it once and promptly uninstalled it.

I use Adobe Reader because the browser plugin is way better than Firefox's dogshit built-in .pdf reader.

I personally prefer okular.
It works with forms, notes and saves the position.
I also like that they have a progress circle in the presentation mode, but the UI of normal mode is so good that you can use it for presentations without going into that.

i use chromes builtin PDF reader for almost everything. i used to use foxit but its been a long time.

in the case of needing to do some proprietary bullshit ill install adobe reader and then uninstall afterward.
