As a web dev, it makes me feel a bit sad. The whole reason I started out was because building sites was a challenge in creativity where I could make beautiful pieces of art.

And now we have to optimize sites for 320x480 resolution and with navigation that can be handled by people with barely double digit IQs..

Browsing the internet on a phone is so tedious, I don't understand how people use that as their primary means of using the internet. I guess it makes sense if you're outside a lot but if you're at home there are better options.

I work in a shop and the amount of people who are yammering away on their phone while expecting me to serve them is so depressing.

This is inevitable.
Desktops are going to only remain with people who need workstations for real work and gaymers who need 3x SLI to run their latest games at 8k.
Everyone else is going to have a phone + laptop combo.
Tablets are going to die out.
Or laptops are going to turn into some kinds of hybrids, where you can just lift the screen off and use it as a tablet.

Also the price of desktop parts is going to skyrocket.
We already have the highest end i7 going for something like 2k, where as the last gen highest end option topped out at 1k.
The divide between what the general public uses and what the desktop prosumer crowd uses is going to be massive in the future and so are the prices.
