Why do 2x GTX 960's in SLI perform better than a single GTX 1060?
I ran Fire Strike benchmarks and my old setup with 2 EVGA SSC GTX 960's 2gb and then a single EVGA SSC GTX 1060 6gb.
The 1060 always loses by about 2,000. (Except in fire strike extreme and ultra of course).
Why is that?

Is that a real question?

>Why is that
Because firestrike is a synthetic benchmark which can actually utilize multiple GPUs. Those 960s will shit the bed once you run a program that can't use more than one GPU. Also

Doing SLI on 2gb cards is fucking stupid anyway.
>>57338005
And what were these Fire Strike scores? Graphics only, overall is meaningless.
>>57338035
Yes it is a real question.
>>57338133
Why is this a stupid question? Why wouldn't new architecture with 3x the vram not be able to hold its own against old architecture in sli?
>>57338240
Hold I will check in a second.
>>57338240
GTX1060 graphics score: 12,989
GTX 960 SLI graphics score: 16,252
RX 470 graphics score: 11,827
(I threw my RX 470 results in there as well for comparison.)
>>57338005
they may perform better in benchmarks, but sli cars are still not a good option since some games do worse or dont scale at all in sli
but thats just bad programming, at least gta v takes proper advantage of sli

>GTX1060 graphics score: 12,989
That must be dead stock, because they break 15k when overclocked. The 960 SLI score is largely meaningless anyway. 3DMark is an absolute best case scaling scenario in a static benchmarking program that also doesn't tax VRAM or memory bandwidth in any way. In 99% of real gaming workloads, the 1060 will crush them.
The 1060 is still a fairly shit card though. An overclocked 980 stomps it.

A OC 3 GB 1060 can already reeach 14K, so better get one instead of using oudated 900 2GB cards in SLI.

The 960's are no longer an option. I sold them for $150 a piece about 6 months ago.
I just got the 6gb SSC dual fan 1060 for $254.99 including shipping plus I will be getting a $20 rebate.
So for what will only be $235 total, I opted for the 6gb instead of the 3gb.

That sounds nice, unfortunately we have € prices that are dollars to you here. I just sold my 780Ti for 170 and got a 1060 SC 3GB for the money. A 6 GB card would be much more expensive, and I need to save for a 1070/80 anyway. Also, the 3 GB 1060 is only 5 % slower in terms of performance, you won't notice the missing shaders at all.
>>57338743
Were do you get them so cheep?
>>57339055
Newegg. I get free shipping plus I got $25 off for using a MasterCard at checkout.
>>57338005
they don't and multigpu, expecialy SLI is complete shit
