>tfw running GPU benchmarking software in the background just to warm up my room
Who else does this?
>tfw too intelligent to pay the heating bill
*works best with 4XX series nVidia products

This worked pretty well last winter.
This. I'm in a dorm with no heating, and electric is included
Sweatshirts are comfy. I wish my room was cold.

>This. I'm in a dorm with no heating
how shitty is your school?
>>57331624
Use to run furmark on my geforce 8800 gtx until I upgraded to a gtx 1060
8800 used to idle at 55°C now my 1060 only gets up to 55 under full load
>>57332104
Get an electric space heater you fucking spurg.
>>57332104
Get an electric heater.
>>57331624
My 390X also does a decent job heating the room when under load.
>>57332401
Most schools are this shitty
>tfw i have two crts warming up my room at all times
>>57332510
>8XXX era
Is the 8800 nVidia's greatest product and their finest moment?
>>57333137
G92 and all its variants were pretty fucking great.
>>57332104
>Going to a school that's this shitty
>>57333137
back when having an 8800 GTX made you king of the forum
>>57333137
was muh first gpu
>>57331232
Can only be done with AMD cards
>>57331232
>TFW running a 780Ti @4K to keep the winter warm
Get AMD GPU and mining software
>>57331387
He probably doesn't pay his own power bill
>>57332510
Which 1060? I'm getting the EVGA model soon, 1:1 for my 780Ti.
>Not mining crypto currency.
>>57333522
Ah yes, weve forgotten about the housefire fame of 400 and 500s nVidia and the venerated 8800s
>>57331387
Theoretically it's just as efficient to mine Bitcoin or whatever than it is to turn on an actual heater because of thermodynamics and shit
>>57331232
I just run folding@home or BOINC, sometimes I mine whatever is the new memecoin just for kicks
>>57334244
Puget Systems did some empiric testing, a 1000W system heated the same as a 1000W heater
What's a good memecoin to mine?
It has been a little chilly lately.
>>57334728
Just mine whatever looks fun, mining for profits is bretty hard nowadays
But you could ask >>>/biz/
>>57334683
Well your 1000W tower doesn't move, blast concert-tier audio or generate enough light to melt steel beams, so yeah about 990W of that is going to be dissipated as heat.
>>57331232
Do it with a 480
>tfw my computer heats up my room at idle because overclocked 5930k + 2 Zotac extreme 980tis
>tfw comliling gnu on the street
nothing can heat up these feels..
>>57334937
did you use your daddy's credit card?
stress-ng -c 10
