This to be quite honest
>>
>>57329742
That an original Core Duo. C2D's are still fairly usable if you give Chrome/SJWfox enough RAM to chew on.
>>
>>57329762
Even this machine is still usable with chrome. Probably because it can use some GPU acceleration.
>>
>>57329662
clean it up and donate it to people with less taxing usage requirements than I do.

What do I do with a Celeron M 370 laptop?

You can't sell them? I ripped off...I mean sold a PDC desktop to a college kid for $100. With monitor, mouse, and keyboard.
>>
>>57329813
Upgrade CPU. Fastest CPU for Pentium/Celeron M systems is the Pentium M 780 2.26GHz.
>>
>>57329762
no they aren't you can't even play youtube videos without stuttering

Y'know, I should dig out my E6600 box to see if this is true. But my father has a T7200-based Thinkpad T60 and he hasn't complained of it not playing YT. Perhaps he doesn't use YT as much as I think.

>>

Chromium. Nothing special. Remember there are Pentium III's that go over 1ghz. Mine is 933mhz.

Didn't say the resolution. It's 360p.

I can do 480p if I play the video through MPV or VLC.
>>
>>57330198
I used to watch youtube videos via an old version of Opera on a 500mhz Pentium II laptop last year.

second and third gen are still totally okay for keeping around if it's a laptop and isn't nvidia-based for the NVS 130/135M/140M chips. fuck those shits. so long as you have at least a T8300 2.4 or a P8600 2.4, you're golden. but once you get to the third gen laptops, you may as well keep going for finding the fastest P8x00 or P9x00 chip you can afford-- the 9000 series has 6MB of L2 and the P series only has a 25W rated TDP across the board, give or take a few watts depending on clock speed.

Damn, that was my first laptop I got for university over 10 years ago now. It seems your one had the same problems as mine, mainly every key broke/fell off by the end of the second year of use. Hard drive went kaput maybe 4 years in when it was being used as a Linux shitposting device. I remember the battery was fucked like a year in and was almost unusable. Laptop weighed a fucking tonne too. Cheap as hell though.

Play around trying to do extreme shit, like installing unstable stuff or even screwing around with the BIOS or hardmodding.

If it's been getting dust for quite a while I scavenge the components.

Sell it one craigslist and buy new tech.

Or give it to someone who's behind me tech wise.

My Dell E6400 was useless to me. It was however life changing to a poor friend of mine who didn't have a computer, and now has things like Netflix and online bill pay because of it.

Holding on to it is pretty pointless unless you're holding parts for spares for repairs. I have stacks of old hard drives, and ram, and stuff for people who have old pcs and cant afford repairs or new systems
>>
Shoot it in the desert
>>
>>57329762
If you have a dedicated GPU from around that time, then yeah they're fantastic.

If you're like me who has no such part, then they're absolute shit.

Also, these skeltals are fucking sp00ky.

I tried to keep this shitbox running but I think it deserves a retirement. It draws more than my 5820K main system when doing basic tasks.

I thought about making it a 24/7 download slave but it would be inefficient due to its high power draw and noise, I use a rPi instead.

I thought about making it a lowend guest PC that even does light gaming, but I think I would be better with investing 50 € in a i3 bundle.

I have an older Latitude that's held together with tape, duocore with 2 gigs of ram. Still capable machine but it's been replaced. after I get the massive music collection transferred to my desktop, I want to put Linux on it. The first (you) i get determines what distro. no gentoo
>>
It sits in my closet waiting for a chance to serve again. You never know when you'll need some DDR2.
>>
>>57329714
You serious? C2D is more than enough for anything web.
>>
I recycle it.

Old tech is laughably inefficient. When you use it, just picture your processor literally being coal-fired, because it pretty much is. Old tech is the nerd equivalent of rollin' coal: being a faggot and ruining the environment just to show them there librul pantywaists in their Priuses how a REAL MAN computes.
>>
Put it in a closet or drawer until I pull it out for one reason or another
>>
>>57333816
This. I'm using a Core2 Duo right now and the only reason I'm upgrading is that it's been over half a decade since Core2's successor hit the shelves and it's just time to upgrade. And hell, this is just a mobile version. People with C2D desktops are even better off.
>>
>>57329662
