simple samba server vs plesk

which one is best for intranet streaming?

I have bad internet, I live in an area unable to get faster internet.

I max out at 2mb/s. My samba server won't go above that even though router is 300mbps and drives / network cards can handle more.

what does /g/ use?

hansen vs predator

so i realize now plesk does use samba for file transfers but will it always be limited to my down speed?

Are you confused as to why you're not getting 300mbps outside of home network or what? I'm not sure what you're asking.

Just install plex, at least that gives you options for quality.

Well I installed samba, and doing any transfers from my network drive, to my current computer, I only get speeds that match my download speed. I thought on LAN/intranet I would get much faster speeds.

What I'm asking essentially is how do I maximize LAN transfers, I want as fast as possible speeds when transferring between two devices on the same network. As of now I'm maxing out at 2mb/s, which is my down speed on my internet Shouldn't local network transfers be faster? Configure samba better? I'm about to test NFS & sshfs. Plesk isn't mandatory. If it can have better speeds, I'll use it.

I want as fast as possible speeds from a network drive.

interference over wifi, mistakenly selecting 10mbps instead of 100 or gigabit in network settings, faulty cabling
>>
>>57324864
hmm.. maybe it is my wifi network card.

hard drive itself on usb2.0 transfers at 22mb/s give or take.

my laptop says its connected at 54Mb/s and the device with the network storage is 'Speed: 100Mb/s' according to ethtool

even if it was 54mbps that should still be 6.5mb/s

maybe I will have better luck with NFS or sshfs over samba.

my laptop is on mint(sarah) and the network storage device is on debian jessie

wait, you are trying to transfer from a usb drive over wifi? and youre wondering why it's super slow? is this real life?
>>
>>57325106
sata hard drive, and device is connected via ethernet. then connecting to that from my laptop on wifi.
>>
>>57325106
okay i got it with sshfs, much faster now.

sorry for being an idiot /g/

pls no bully.

you can now ignore this thread.
