If you overwrite everything on an SDD, the system will think the SDD is full and radically decrease the life expectancy of the drive. You can do some shenanigans where you have an unused partition on the SDD that's larger than some drive-specific threshold, but it's simpler to just not nuke the drive.

Well first of all, no method of wiping is complete, but at some point you've got to admit its enough that nobody will ever see your rare squirrel porn.

If you'd just toss it on a USB stick and load it up you'd see you have complete control over HOW wiped it is, letting it be more and more thorough at increased time to get it done. You can pick different PRNG and amount of passes to the content of your paranoid pedantic ass
