Instead, as internet speeds got faster, posters were able to look at more images, Gifs and videos faster. Not to mention the automatic updating features which increase bandwidth consumption.

All of that combined with the fact that third-party advertisers that aren't google every day generate less revenue.

Hiro is trying to utilize more cloud based (aka high availability) solutions. These seem easy at first, with less labor involved but typically these solutions cost 2 or 3 times more than bare-metal. The best thing is to rent servers (not own them!), get a good hypervisor (VMware, Xen, Proxmox, whatever) and build out your own environment.
