Is nVidia Shield a good piece of hardware or just a meme? I'm looking for an 8inch monster to read me some pdfs and don't watch a flimsy piece of shit that slows down after a year of updates like my Galaxy Tab 10

Here are the facts:
1. The Shield K1 does not suffer from the same problems as the original Shield
2. It has a good screen and GREAT speakers
3. It's a bit of a slab in terms of thickness
4. The power and vol controls are shit. Unless you buy a smart cover, turning it on is a pain
5. The stylus is reasonably good but inferior to the active stylii used on the Samsung Notes. Fast handwritten notes are a struggle
6. The lack of a stylus port is infuriating. You will lose that fucker constantly.
7. Yeah, it plays 3D well
8. Clean Android is a joy to use
My opinion is that it's very good, for the price. But up and coming tablets like the Asus Zenpad (the Z-something with 4GB RAM and 32GB storage costing less than the Shield) are probably now as good as, or a better deal.
Then again, stock Android is so much better than practically every other manufacturer's horrible reskin that it's a selling point in itself.
