no place for a projector
Projector bulbs have to be replaced on a regular basis. Sometimes they can be expensive
my living room isnt big enough for a projector
Because they're very expensive and impractical (must have projector in a dimly-lit room at all times).
A 1080p (native) 60Hz projector with 3K lumens is over $500+

I could get a 4K 120Hz 50" LED TV for about the same price.

Well, I used a projector once instead of a big TV. Too troublesome.
Projectors are not designed for long continuous use, not for work, not to watch 8 hours of some series, require no lights, and still has less contrast than a good TV.
Are good to do a presentation (DUH) and watch a movie or 2.
As for space, you only need it like 10ft (3m) to get a 70" inch screen.

You need blackout curtains for daytime use, and also need no ambient light so can't really have lamps on or anything. You could always get a fuckhuge lumen projector like a 7k but even a 4k is more than enough for most indoor use unless it's a big space/throw.
You also have to consider heat (more lumens = more heat), the throw (ceiling mounted is best but not always possible, and low throws means you can't block it at all which isn't always convenient), the cable run, needing separate sound, surface (screen or wall, defects in walls can be annoying for instance), etc.
TVs are easy, throw em on a wall and 99% of the time you're all set. Projectors have a lot of variables but they're definitely worth it. I do VJ/projection mapping stuff and it's necessary, but just watching movies and playing games on a 10 foot screen while in the comfort of your own home is amazing.
Lurking at work for a couple hours so glad to field any questions, I deal with different projectors on a regular basis

Burn-in is a serious problem that prevents them from being used for work. They are also loud as shit, require new lamps after a few thousand hours (which cost almost as much as a new projector...), don't work fine in daylight (admittedly not much or a serious problem for most of us), and you need some place to store the projector on - and possibly set up some space in your room to project the picture onto, should you not have a non textured plain white wall.
I do have one, and I use it in reverse direction - put the projector in front of my TV, and project the screen above my bed, with the left/right audio channels reversed so I don't need to re-orient my speakers. I play mostly retro console games that way, where stereo sound suffices.
I have a projector for anime and movies. I watch them all at night anyway.
