I think it's ugly and I don't trust Canonical because of the whole Amazon thing, but it gets the job done so I don't mind using it (the computers at my college all have *buntu).
I prefer Debian with Cinnamon, though.

It's the most user friendly distro that lets you get things done.
It gets slower the longer you use it, gets bloated and behaves slow like Windows sometimes.
