What does /g/ think of this distro?
>>57286655
Never heard of it, so it must be garbage.
>>57286655
T-That's not Gentoo...
>>57286655
There's no good reason to use anything that's not Debian, Ubuntu, Redhat, CentOS, Gentoo or Fedora. All other distributions don't distinguish themselves in any relevant manner.
>>57287085
what abouse openSUSE ?
>>57287099
Doesn't do anything that the others don't do better and the server space is dominated by Debian, Ubuntu, Redhat and CentOS.
>>57287117
In my experience it kernel panics better than all the rest
>>57286655
It's a pretty good distro. My only complaint was the lack of packages in the repo. The guys who run it are hard workers and will often make things available almost immediately after request.
>>57286655
No knowledge of it whatsoever, so it's not as good as the distro I'm currently using.
>>57287021
Its comfy and lightweight.
Love, one of my favorite distributions
>>57286655
Whats the point? Sell me on it.
>fancy rice as fuck DE
>no useable software
Linux
>>57286655
Idk about the distro, but the DE is great on arch.
>>57288999
the DE is the selling point which is a valid exuse to use another distro but linux being what it is, people just drop the DE on their distros.
>>57286655
I like Budgie. Use it as my main DE on Arch Lincux
>>57286655
it was nice, until they ripped off the chink sidepanel from d'eebin
>>57287344
You could just try budgie-remix and use the Ubuntu repos
>2016
Is SolusOS usable yet?
So ive been distro hopping for years now, an im actually the most satisfied with solus.
Its snappy as fuck in comparison to other "just werk" distros which feel sluggish as fuck even on good hardware.
Solus + gnome is the most pleasant, comfy, snappy combination ive tried so far.
Just try it, you can install it in 10 minutes and see what im talking about.
The only thing is the lack of packages, but you can always build them yourself.
Also, i didnt have any bugs and crashes, and it werks. All of my network printers are immediately recognized which was not the case with windows and ubuntu for example.
It is the only case where i wanted to give the devs cash to support their work because i feel its going in a good direction.
>>57286655
Which DE is this? This looks like a fork of Cinnamon
>>57286655
it's decent, budgie is nice.
the package manager is fast but there aren't very many packages.
... that is literally a Windows 10 clone
>>57287085
Arch for personal desktop, Fedora only works out for noobs like Linus.
>>57291563
2017 will be the year of Solus desktop. Mark my words.
>>57286655
>be me
> OP suggests distro I vaguely recognize
> noice digits
OKay. I'll bait on this.
pic related.
>Oh Ehm Ghee!!!
> It's t3h terribles!!
> so much broken, so many FAIL
> fcuk t3h loonux
> going back to windoze 10 becuz so many awesome!
loonix fagz B.T.F.O. stay in yuor mommies basements NEETFags!
But, seriously ... need to give it a look. Always looking for something fairly simple and lightweight.
> Irish.
So, an potato linux?
>>57286655
1. bloat
2. not supported
3. not recognized
Ubuntu Unity is the best option for Linux, most widely used and many companies including valve recognize and provide support for it.
These spinoffs need to die, Linux need to reconcile with their core distributions and improve the existing projects instead of fragmentation and polarizing the landscape.
Sometimes having too much choice is a negative thing, it confuses people. Also funding one solid project vs. thousands of hipster distros.
looks like shit
>>57286655
Looks great, I'll definitely check out the full distro, but I'll probably just put the DE on antegos.
>>57292137
This better be bait
I dig the sidebar concept but other than that, why not use something with proper support
>>57292646
The solus DE has been made available, so you can have both
>>57292137
>bloat
Now we know you never installed it.
>not supported
It is, now we know that you never researched it
>not recognized
That it isn't
>spinoff
Stop trying to act smart about things you know nothing about.
10/10 bait
>>57292607
It not about budgie but the os itself.
But do try it you will be supprised
>>57292693
I'll definitely be trying it. It's caught my eye before.
They did GPU switching pretty good (I mean you can choose which program runs on which GPU in dual GPU laptops)
>>57291827
it's called Budgie desktop
>>57286655
I use it as my daily driver distro
It works and looks ok, which is good enough for me.
Also, budgie is pretty nice.
I thought about using it but I'm new to Linux and chose Mint instead.
Still looks very comfy, though.
Still on live version, but looks good so far. Budgie seems quite polished, everything fits together nicely. Also eopkg, dat shit good
It's the first distro that doesn't make the fans in my laptop go nuts.
>>57291827
Cinnamon is a trash fork of gnome shell. Budgie is written from scratch using gnome utils.
