I want to buy a pair of Elac Debut B5 to play music via PC.
These are obviously rather cheap speakers, so I'm looking for an equally cheap DAC and amp.
Any recommendations? Is it possible to drive these solely using an internal sound card?
ive got a kenwood ka-3700 with 2 speakers which i assume are the default ones for 30€
did i do well?
Those cost the same as other bookshelfs with twice as large speakers.
Fuck those are tiny.

Does the size really matter?

they are ment to be quite good but go to the store and listen to them you might prefer something better you cant use a sound card
I recently bought two Klipsch R-15M speakers and I am very pleased with the sound quality.

Reducing the size of a loudspeaker usually means compromising:
-low end response
-max sound pressure
-efficiency
There are of course exceptions, but as you seem to be looking for budget speakers you're not giving manufacturers the means to achieve this.
However,
-if you're not planning to play it loud
-don't need deep bass or use a sub
-have a strong amp (which is cheap these days)
you could still enjoy a small wel designed budget speaker.
Elac debut series sucks, sounds like ass
