I'm trying to build a moving sculpture, pic related. I want the eye (red LED) to move in a lifelike, oscillating motion. A pre-built, battery powered set up is preferred, but at this point I'll take anything, because oscillating leds/ led sockets seem to not exist. Nothing too bright, like a police signal, either.
Anybody know where I could find this? Sorry if wrong forum, but it seems like some people here would know if anywhere.

how are you gonna be building this? it sounds really cool
im not sure i get what you want? why not just wire a red bulb on a battery and hang it with a rope?

Yeah dude just hang a red light inside a pepakura'd model or something. You're over complicating things.
OP here. Thanks for the interest, I'll post results of the finished product. But I want the light to move back and forth in a pendulum motion within the skull of the piece. It's a pivotal part of what will make this fun and interesting to look at. So I'm looking online for a small LED that has an oscillating motion to it so that it will bring the hanging artwork to life.

I'm using simple white molding clay, which will harden, and some wire and black fabric for the frame. The eye is really the most complicated part.

sounds pretty neat
good luck, dude
Put several small LEDs next to each other in a line. Cover them with a translucent material to blur and hide the gaps. Fade between them with a microcontroller (eg. Arduino). Use a high enough PWM frequency so it doesn't look shit (or add analog filtering).

You can get rectangular through-hole LEDs so you can pack them together closer.

Get one of those solar led hula figure things. Rip out the panel and replace it with a battery, tape a led finger light to the figure and put it inside.
