Sup /g/, I made a quick decision to sell my FagBook Retina 15in for an ASUS ROG machine
>pic related
Exact Model: ASUS ROG G751JT
It has a Nvidia Gtx 970m, 16 gb ram, 4710-HQ Intel Processor. I chose this one because I wanted something to game on, but also I'm planning on running a virtual machine and video editing (not all at once of course)!

>970m
lol
you fucked up bad
>>57274923
Why denounce 970?
>>57274719
what do you use your PC for?
I would have personally preferrrfeerfred keeping the MacBook.
But if you have to ask, then you most probably fucked up.

Jesus, why not get a desktop when your laptop isn't doing its only job: being portable.

>5 hour battery life at near-idle
>at best
>>57274719
You did well man. If I ever had to buy a somewhat powerful laptop I'd go with the asus g751 series for sure. They have really beefy cooling, so no issues with throttling and shit.
>>57274923
I don't get it
You didn't fuck up at all. I've had a G750 for years and it's dead reliable, cooling is godlike and you can swap in RAM or storage easily. Totally happy with it.

Using it for gaming(Civilization 6), VMware(Mint/Ubuntu), programming, the usual...
>>57275221
Because, it's partially portable. Sacrificing form factor for power isn't a thing for me.
>>57275231
>I'm not taking it to school or work.

Thanks!
I would have gotten an Alienware 13. Much lighter and 960m is more than enough for portable gaymen
the last good looking ROG was the G75 (Ivy Bridge NVIDIA 670). After that they went full overboard gaymen with LEDs everywhere , ugly graphic stickers and bloatware installed. They go for a very good price on the second hand market today and can play civ 6 just fine

>Alienware
>Over-expensive Dell shit
>Cancer
All the same things
Using a g73 since many years, the best laptop i've ever had by far. Battery life is shit ofc. Running debian tesing, lots of virtualization and development. Can run those 3 games that I enjoy playing when I'm bored like cod 5 or bioshock infinite. My next laptop will be another g series for sure, maybe the 15'' one this time and not the 17'' one
