don't think so quadmaster, you should be good till lts runs out, then switch to whatever the current lts is at the time. it's also worth noting that since with lts you need to reinstall every few years since upgrading is usually counter indicated, putting home on a separate partition is a good idea

I used some lighter Otterbox for my S4, but am using a Defender for my Note 4.

I don't play phone games. There's foam on the inside back of the case to keep the phone in place and also for shock absorption.

The downside is only heat if you try to run too much at once. It won't be a problem when I get around to limiting how much actually runs.

Once my new SD card arrives I'm going to root it and install Greenify with Xposed to stop apps starting on their own.

But yeah, great cases. The idea of something sharp hitting the big screen makes me anxious, but damage is MOSTLY covered with these things.

That depends on whether you factor in what they set the original price as.

I managed to get a good deal on a stock OC'd 980 ti with an aftermarket cooler after the 1070s came out. Beat its price:performance ratio by a wide margin.

Deals are really about timing, but don't pick a sketchy site just because of the price or you're going to have a bad time.

Also an anon recently confirmed my suspicions that CPUs don't really drop in price significantly.

How does one properly format a long string of text in Java?

For example, using printf and string formatting i want my output to look like:

> The distance between 5,7 and 1,4 is: 5.000

But I can't figure out how to do it. I was barely taught the basics of printf and string formatting, and I understand how to do shit like

System.out.printf("Total: %10.2f: ", dblTotal);

but I can't figure out how to do that with a line of text that stretches that long.

> my variables for the first set of points are x1 and y1

> my variables for the second set of points are x2, y2

> my variable for the answer is calculateDistance

please help /g/ ;_;
>>
>>57271364
for example, this is the best I can do

  System.out.println("The distance between " + x1 + "," + y1 + " and " + x2 + "," + y2 + " is: " + distanceCalculation);

how do I format this with printf and string formatting so that it looks like same way except that my result has 3 decimal places and my sets of coordinates only use 0 decimal places?

Because it's windows. When you install it it installs only the drivers for the hardware it needs, unlike the linux kernel which usually includes most of the drivers. Putting it in a laptop and trying to boot it will cause it to shit itself because the hardware is different and it doesn't have the hardware drivers it needs.

I'm tired of dealing with these pop op ads and redirects when I'm jerking my dick.

This is on palimas.com, you just get re-directed to a fuck you page if you use ad block on the video page, so I added this to ublock so I don't block ads there but still do on the front page.
http://palimas.com/video.php?id=*

So on the video page itself you get redirected if you click anywhere for the first click, but if you go down under the video and use the alternative 3 link you get the video hosted on google drive, which you can open in a new tab and watch it there. But the buttons for alternative links looks like this
<a href="http://go.trafficshop.com/df38674b?bu=http%3A%2F%2Fpalimas.com" onclick="window.open('/video.php?id=12645&amp;a2=do')">alternative 3</a>
and also re-directs on the first click, and some times closes the original tab.

Any way I can disable all the re-directing scripts and still be able to use the alternative links?

I also have an iPad 3, which is 3 or so years old. I'm thinking that i might need to upgrade the ipad soon, because it can't play webms, should i get a new tablet and then eventually get a new laptop, or should i get a slate like the surface pro 4? being able to use ubuntu on at least 1 of the 2 is a huge plus to me

Anyone have experience with the following combination:
>Marantz M-CR611 Melody Media
>Dali Zensor 1 (set of 2)
760 eurobucks total for what seems to be a good stereo setup with network streaming and DAB+ radio, yet I don't know whether this will sound great. The problem is partly because I'm a audio idiot and barely know anything about it.

Will this combination work properly? Do I need to invest in better speakers or will this sound good enough for a relatively small room? Will a subwoofer add much to the experience?

I'll be streaming FLAC files to it and listen to DAB+ radio and quite frankly, there aren't many options for this combination.

I'm completely in the dark on this one, and have no idea where to really look for this information.

I guess this was "stupid" but I used to use an A/V receiver to power my 5.1 Polk Audio setup for my computer, and now I see a lot of people have gone to using a DAC? Is this like a small amp for your speakers or something?

I don't really understand, if I have speakers that I would normally hook up for a home theater system with banana plugs and what-not, how can I magic those to my computer without some big bulky A/V receiver? I apologize in advance for my lack of knowledge on this, I'm just really behind the times I guess.
>>
I'm extremely computer-illiterate.
I have been having internet problems for many years. It had been a severe detriment to my online classes and multiplayer gaming. I have no idea how to diagnose it. We have called the ISP a few times, but usually they would ask "Well, what's your speed right now?" and it doesn't look like anything is bad because it just comes in spurts. Working fine one minute, then a full minute+ of everything timing out. Someone was recently called down to replace the modem, which did nothing to help, then he had to adjust some green box on the street, which did nothing to help.

When I look into it, I see a lot of confusing terminology that confuses me.

How can I begin to understand everything so I can fix my Internet problems? I hate to be so ignorant about something I use all the time.
>>
>>57274109
Its not that hard, just learn how manage your modem/router.

Meanwhile, some problems will be on your ISP side and you cant do nothing about it.
>>
>>57274030
If you use optical out for surround sound so it will rely on your receivers DAC
>>
>>57274109
are you using a modem then your own aftermarket router on top?

cuz most of the garbage modem/wifi combos that ISPs give you are pathetically bad
>>
>>57274153
But what are my alternatives to a huge ass A/V receiver?
>>
>>57274014

Have you've tried looking up your modem and seeing the password is the default? That works half the time for me.

You can also call up the customer service number if you're desperate.
>>
>>57274190
I have, but none of the defaults seem to be correct. No combination of "admin", "router", the serial number, and just leaving it blank is getting me in.
>>
>>57274030
alot of those receivers also have amps inside them so some speakers aren't self powered they need them.

if your speakers are self powered then you can usually get by with a nice quality DAC with enough outputs to output 5.1. the boxes tend to be way smaller than those fuck off sized receivers
>>
>>57274169
I have no idea what that is or how to check. I am very bad at this. I'm sorry.

>>57274147
OK. Is there a way to reliably diagnose what exactly is going on?

I used to suffer a lot of what I think was "packet loss". Rubberbanding and just unable to move for seconds, even minutes at a time. Awful time. I don't think that's happening much anymore, I think it's something else, but I don't really know how to check. I think if I knew exactly what was wrong, I could understand my situation better. But I'm so bad with computers.

I'm glad people are so helpful in these threads. It's so nice to do this.

Not a mathematician but in my naïve brain,

1. real numbers are uncountably infinite

2. Even integers are countable but whatever

Because

3. Anything countable multiplied to an uncountably infinite can't bring the uncountably infinite down. You can't count 1*real numbers. You can't count 2*real numbers. Why should you be able to count N*real numbers?

Sorry if I'm wrong.

I installed Android Studio on Ubuntu 16.04.1 64 bit.
On clicking its icon it shows plugin update available ( says run as privileged user to update...).
I go to its directory /opt/android-studio/bin and run "sudo ./studio.sh". i then click on update, it then restarts and still shows the same update available.
Sometimes it doesn't even restarts .

Is Putty pretty much the standard for SSH on Windows? That was what someone told me to use 5 years ago when I started to need it, but I just reformatted, and figured now would be a good time to switch if it wasn't. I know it's ssh key generator is kind of wonky, wasn't sure if it was just that, or the whole program.

I have an Android device with data plan, a dynamic IP address on my home connection(infrequent changes though), and a handful of Raspberry Pis. If I pick up an extra domain name, is there a way I can get it reliably set up such that I can use things like myphone.mydomain.com and raspberrypi3.mydomain.com in scripts and have the DNS update fast enough to actually point to them, even if they've recently changed IPs? Most of what I have planned now I realize I'd be better off doing with a cheap VPS, but it's a good learning opportunity for the future.

Booted up as normal this morning, everything was very slow so I decided to restart.
Restarted, things were just as slow, but one of my case's fans wasn't running. Decided to shut down.
Upon slowly booting up, it seems my second hard drive wasn't being recognised. I restarted again and everything seems fine now and the drive is being recognised.

I can swear I'm hearing some screeching from my tower, but I might just be hypersensitive to noises now. Does it sound like my hard drive is genuinely dying or is it just one of those blips that happens?

My ISP payment is pre-paid.
And if they want to limit they would cut off everything, or display an appropriate message.
I can visit the HTTP sites, if I use hidemyass proxy.
Also I 'm not sure if this related or not but when I try to open the HTTP sites and get the ISP web page, NoScript block the GET request because of it's ABE (application based enforcer).

So I bit the bullet & did THAT, but now any time it turns off, it says it needs to boot configure, make me plug back in my USB boot & then it creates an entire new system & shoves anything I had before into a tiny folder...Randomly, it seems to have other problems, like it STOPS finding wifi connections (even if my mobile does & like the one time it actually just turned back on naturally, two of my programs just DISAPPEARED...

I have an issue that I'd be really grateful for fixing. (Even wouldn't be oposed to paying a bit for help, though not now, as I'm a bit broke until the 10th)

My laptop doesn't want to load some pages.
Only sometimes.
Sometimes they work after ctrl+f5.
But they seem to have parts that are "broken", like images and video.

It only occurs on some websites.

It also only occurs on my current network (on any other network it's completely fine)

Happens on ALL OSes.
All the other devices on said "broken" network are fine.
Any ideas?

Some fuckery with how your browser is configured maybe? Humor me and try a fresh profile at the very least, although a full reinstall would be best, and then try it on default settings. Alternately, see if you have any weird router settings for that computers IP, and if not, maybe it's that computers networking device? If it's wired, try wireless, if wireless, try wired.
>>
>>57277824
Not really.
Happens in all browsers I've tried (Chrome, Firefox, IE, Edge)
Persists through reinstalls.

My router setup is as following:

ISP Provided Router/Modem Combo (DHCP Enabled) -> Ethernet cable into my room -> into another router (LAN port, so it works as an access point for the first network)

And my laptop is just connected to that via 802.11ac

The issue also persists through routers - I've used 2, with the same setup, same problem occured.
>>
>>57277845
Oh, and the second router has DHCP disabled, it's also set for a static IP on the same network as the ISP router.

No idea then. I had something similar before, no matter what browser I'd use, no matter the settings, Jackbox.tv just would. Not. Render. Only on that one computer, and I had all the required plugins, nothing blocking it, and it loaded the website(Viewing source showed the same result as a friend's functional page), it just wouldn't render. Weird shit. Reformatted recently and it works again.

Probably.

Not sure about shipping to Ireland but you can get much better components for the same price. Pre built machines are almost always more expensive so that there is a good enough profit margin for the company producing them.
