Got 1tb and 2tb drives, mostly because of media packratting. Also have a 3 year old seagate 1tb from a prior job, and it's mostly fine, but it's had multiple close calls.

Are Hitachi's external/portable drivers as highly rated as their internal drives? Planning on getting a couple of externals and not sure what to get. Also what's the difference between the WD Passports and WD Elements?

Whatever drive i can find + cheap sata to usb enclosure.

I stopped using portable drives when i noticed that my laptop can run three drives at the same time though, only carry the enclosure now.
