I'm very happy with my purchase. I sit in this chair 15 hours a day and experience no discomfort. And it has head support while many 1000$ ergonomic chairs don't, which probably plays a major role in keeping me comfortable. I have the leather version but my chair is covered by a cloth so I can't comment on leather vs fabric.

As someone who uses a Herman Miller, everything you've been told about chairs is all meme shit.

Get whatever you can afford and what's comfortable to you, everything falls apart. Cheap or expensive, it doesn't matter because it always breaks down in the end and you end up paying about the same either route.

Bought an office chair made by a big German manufacturer on eBay for 329€, a lot of companies seem to have surplus (mine was factory ordered exactly a year ago and never used) or other companies/institutions buy in bulk from those who go bankrupt.
My friend's uni had them in dozens in his lab and I asked him for the model and price.

pic related, brand new and has all the settings you could wish for (around 900€ retail], hub and arm rest are aluminium which is definitely nicer than the plastic variant

Ikea Markus is what I use. I wouldn't describe it as "comfy." It's not like a big recliner that you sit in and are like "this is comfy af." But I never get sore except maybe in my ass if I hadn't gotten up in 6 hours. The padding hasn't gotten flat after 4 years of my 230lb self sitting on it. It's super durable and sturdy. If you don't like the handles, you can just not use them. It was $200 when I got it, I'd assume it's still the same. The only thing is that if you are super short, your head probably won't reach the headrest, it isn't adjustable.

I got one of those fancy "ergonomic" chairs you faggots keep peddling and they're SHIT, can't sit in them for long at all without them getting uncomfortable as fuck, just get a regular chair with good padding, that's all you need.
